20" wheels recommendation? And how important is the offset?

So, I started looking at wheels for my winter setup. Tires will be 275/65R20.

On some sites (like pmctire) there seems to be a lot of choice, with the correct bolt pattern, size, width, but the offsets are all over the place.

How much of a problem can it be to have let's say an offset of 20mm, given that the factory one is, I believe, 48mm. That would mean the wheel would be like over an inch out compared to normal?

Any recommendation for a good one? This is a winter setup so I'm looking for something affordable, like 250$ US max per wheel.

The MSW type 52 is probably your best bet. They strongly resemble the factory 20" "staple" wheels. They come in the factory 48mm offset in 3 finishes and are $272/wheel. They're just out of stock until mid-late October at Tire Rack. I don't think you'll find anything sub-$250 unless you get a set of used Ram 2363s.

Offset is very important. You will not clear the brake calipers in the front. The only way around it is to get spacers that create the same offset. It is best to find rims that match the offset. The MSW Type 52's are the best bet and the way it works with TireRack as soon as you order them, they are in stock in 2 weeks. This is the setup I have on my R1T.

Offset is very important because of variable height suspension and clearance to wheel wells, body work and suspension. It can also have a role in aerodynamics and efficiency.

Lowest cost wheel option likely a set of used or refurbished Ram wheels (do a search for details). Next up would likely be the cast MSW from Tire Rack.

Do you like a clean Rivian or a dirty Rivian? I bought wheels from 1EV that moved the tire out even with the fender flare, 5/16" of an inch. Huge difference in how dirty the truck is. Looks good and works fine. Clearance of the break calipers has to do with the diameter not the off set. That is why a 19" wheel won't work.

Adding wheel spacers reduces offset. Since most wheel options have a lower offset than Rivian (e.g. OE 48mm vs. RAM 2363 19mm) you can't correct the offset with spacers.

Caliper clearance has more to do with the wheel diameter and spoke profile, which means that spacers can help here if the wheels are large enough, but due to the already high OE offset requirement, spacers might send you too far in the wrong direction.

I have the Type 52 and 100% agree with this. They have the same fit specifications as the factory 20" wheels and are pretty reasonable facsimiles. You can save $60 on a set of 4 if you have a Tire Rack warehouse close to you and pick them up there.

I went with General HTS60 AS tires in 60 series, which gives an overall diameter close to that of stock Pirellis on 21" wheels. My range has improved over what I saw with the stock Scorpion AT's, and have the added benefit of a quieter and more comfy ride. The tradeoff is that handling is probably marginally decreased with the larger sidewall. I kept the Scorpions and the stock Rivian Black wheels for use in the winter as the Pirellis are 3PMSM rated.

As far as looks:

I'm located in Canada, so shipping is quite expensive (177$ USD), and then there are extra fees (brokerage, duty) for 95$ USD, and then of course our federal and provincial taxes. It's coming to over 500$ CAD per wheel.

I might still go with them however. Just wished I could find a closer distributor.
