Trying to decide if I want to record full driving sessions, or set it up with the 2 minute clips that are triggered by hard braking or an accident.

Probably the latter, but then I'll be pissed when I don't record the meteor explosion or other weird event that I'm absolutely sure will happen when I'm not recording.
You can also honk the horn for more than 1 second to trigger recording.

It's not just the space, more and longer videos require much more CPU/GPU processing and it might slow down the onboard computer.
Reading how it works sounds like it is caching video when it is on if you are recording or not and then similar to home security cameras just write when triggered. I might test both ways and see if I see a difference.

You seriously think that the rivian onboard computer can't handle continuous recording? They would never release this update if they can't

Interesting note on the dash cam: the truck makes you format the hard drive you use regardless of whether it’s already FAT32 or not. No need to manually format anymore since it forces you to from the truck.
Just to clarify, the truck itself handles the drive formatting?

If the system automatically records “15 seconds of pre incident footage” that leads me to believe it’s constantly recording (then re-writing) short clips no matter what you select.

Otherwise how would it have the 15 seconds before the incident?

do you need to install the previous update, 2023.10.2, before getting 2023.14.0? i haven't installed the previous update yet but that's whats available on my app and was just wondering if 2023.14.0 will show up at some point.

Full driving sessions is the way to go. You want to make sure there is footage if someone just does a minor sideswipe, or just taps your bumper.

That's why all Russians have dash cams! Or maybe it's because of insurance issues

The Motion Cam is H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) with a resolution of 1280x720 @ 7013kbps and 30.00fps for the bed camera and 1376x976 @ 9997kbps and 30.00fps for the front, rear, and side cameras, so I imagine the Drive Cam would be the same.

Yep, the truck formatted the hard drive again from the truck itself. It was already a FAT32 that I was using for Gear Guard videos.
