Glad to see I’m not the only one with these issues. Apple Music still will not load data consistently, maps disappear from drivers display, garage door doesn’t send signal and proximity locking is also affected.

Something has clearly gone wrong. The QC teams are good at what they do, but they clearly need better support and more resource. Seems like something was rushed out the door and they felt the compromises were worth it. Crazy thoughts but I’m at a loss how this could pass QC.

A full reset (not infotainment reset) resolved most of the issues for me. Infact all tabs on infotainment screen seemed niftier after the reset. I had the same issues that are reported on this thread.

I still have not been offered .31. Neither has my son who has an early R1S. I have to think that Rivian is trying to work out some issues before continuing with the roll-out.

Electrify has about 464 vehicles reporting and they are still showing cars getting it applied.

Be that as it may, this is the longest I have ever gone from introduction of the update to me being offered, and we've had the R1T for a year and a half.

I have not figured out a pattern on the OTAs, sometimes I am day one when I hear they started being deployed, longest I had was 3 weeks. Usually it has been in the first week I get it, I am always connected to home WiFi.

Will be interesting to see if there is a difference with priority deployments. I did already signup for Connect+, says I will be charged at the end of the trial on 10/15, this OTA Ingot on day 3. ??

Anyone else getting all the new feature update highlights from two updates ago displaying on the main screen again? This last update was simply hot garbage. Apple Music worked right for 1 week, Amazon Music no longer works with her or at all, and since Connect + started the LTE signal has been dismal. Hope the next one fixes everything. I've tried a soft reset, but guess its time for a full one.

Yep, after a hard reset got all the messages again. But what I found, is if you disable WiFi, the navigation black screen will not happen after soft reset. So you will not have to have a few soft resets to get it back. Based on what I see, infotainment crashes every night or when I start pulling back every other day.

I opened a ticket and asked Rivian to pull the diagnostic. What surprised me that Rivian were not aware of these issues and wanted to send me a mobile technician to check the truck...

A couple of different issues for me with the update (well, one new one I guess). As @Puttyandnapalm mentioned, the remote lock / unlock has been very hit and miss. locking and unlocking at home when that is shut off, and not unlocking or locking on walking from or to the car. I've waited a minute to see if it would recognize me (my phone) and nothing. i had to open the app and unlock the car. I've re-set 2 times.

The other issue I have not seen yet is a significant decrease in internet connectivity. I routinely get the message "no internet connection" at home and for blocks after leaving home. This has not been a problem in the past. This means no Spotify and no updates on the app while charging.

As a non-Apple Music user, I would have skipped this update. Software and some of the programming choices is my #1 dislike of this vehicle. And this update only added to my frustration with an otherwise likeable vehicle.

I've been doing a PDF compare of new user manuals as they are released to see if there are any interesting changes not mentioned in the release notes, and I try to type up the notable ones and post it to this forum in case it is helpful to others. Since I have a Gen1 R1T, I only compare that manual. This time, I'm comparing the manual from May (2024.19) with the most recent one from August (2024.31), so the changes are covering the span of two releases.

I don't think there is anything "critical" here that all owners need to know, but for the curious and detail oriented folks, this list might be interesting.

Notable changes in the R1T Gen1 owner's manual between 2024.19 and 2024.31:
  • Added a section on "Non-firmware updates" on pg 31. These can be applied without any downtime. Does anyone know what these are meant for?
  • On pg 123, they added that WiFi is also used to "Enable remote diagnostics and offload log data." No idea what this refers to, but maybe something they will use in the future?
  • Added a status indicator for 12V battery issues on pg 160 at the top of the table
  • On pg 176 they added a note that "In Dual-Motor vehicles, the drive mode resets to All-Purpose after 4 hours since your last drive."
  • In the section on driving across water, they added a note that "The cooling fan and refrigerant compressor may stop temporarily while the vehicle is submerged." on pg 202. If this note applies to you, wow you must be having some fun adventures ;-).
  • Added the Wing and Surround view cameras to the diagram and table on pg 217
  • Fixed the model number of the portable charger from x331 to x3311.
  • Added the "tab to remove adapter from charge plug" to the diagram and table on pg 275
  • Previously the manual said the drive cam USB would support FAT32 and MSDOS FAT formats. Now it says only the FAT32 format is supported.
  • The manual used to say that the horn would also sound when gear guard detected motion inside the vehicle or vehicle tilting; now it only says it will flash lights and send a message.
  • On pg 314, there are two more conditions listed that are required for the alarm to be armed. (1) Seat belts are unbuckled, and (2) The vehicle doesn't detect an authorized device, such as a phone key, in its vicinity.
  • A whole new section on pg 380 that adds warning about floor mats and how they could interfere with the pedals while driving, including a warning to not use floor mats from the Gen1 vehicles in a Gen2 vehicle.
  • New recommendations on pg 390 on how to extend the life of your tires
  • Added a note on pg 391 to replace your tires after six years regardless of tread wear (???)
  • Added More details on pg 418 on what to expect when doing a 12V system jump start

Tires are rubber, which degrades over time. This is a solid recommendation.

Overall this has not been a great release.

Ironically one of the issues seems to fixed itself though. I have 3 garage doors, if i was in dark mode it wouldn't show the names of any of them so i would have no idea which one i was selecting. Now, it just works, and this is after about 20 hard reboots for my Christmas Tree of errors that prevent me from shifting into drive (which has dramatically reduced but i still think it's heat related).

I don't think Rivian can do stealth updates to trucks but who knows... version number is still the same. All my same red errors still exist in RIDE too.

That and the steering feel changes that came with the suspension changes two updates ago. Why?!!! Just stop guys.
I just noticed that too, I guess it’s one of those “surprise features”
