Yes, you can now take your hands off the wheel, but it constantly tells me to keep my eyes on the road - even when I am. It is rather annoying, so I just keep my hands on the wheel to avoid it (that works). My sense is the IR camera is calibrated wrong?

Yes, there may be an issue here. Mine was able to accurately tell what I was looking at, even with sunglasses on

It can certainly use some refinement. Mine is overly aggressive about nagging to keep my eyes on the road and slow to recognize when they are.

Same here. It could tell exactly when I wasn’t looking at the road but when I was it was happy. OP do you have your rear view mirror adjusted correctly? The camera is in the mirror so it needs to be set so you can see out the back window.

It needs to allow for a wider angle of looking at the road. My mirror is correctly adjusted, but it’s still very sensitive. I can turn my head slightly and still have the road in my peripheral vision. Once alerted, it sometimes takes several seconds of staring at the road to stop the chiming and alerting.

It‘s an early version. I’m sure Rivian will continue to refine it.

Hi, My hands free isn't working, even when i consciously open my eyes wide and look straight ahead on the road, it keeps telling me to keep eyes on the road ... was anyone able to fix this somehow?

I cannot wait for this mode to be adjusted with future updates, but right now I feel like I have to have my eyes on the road more in hands free mode than I do with cruise control off. I do find that it nags less when I have my head actually rested on the headrest.
