Yes, that's useful. But if people won't even read the text permanently molded into that outlet which says "NEMA 14-30P 30V 125/250V" then I don't know what good a Wikipedia article will do.

Pro tip for at least one person posting in this thread: If you don't know for sure, please don't guess - especially when it comes to offering advice that may burn down a house.

I have a Tesla mobile charger with about a dozen various adapter such as the nema 14-30 in this example that I use. The advantage is two major benefits - first there is a temperature sensor in each of those different plugs that will lower amps or stop charging completely if the temperature is too high. You want this plug to connect DIRECTLY to the receptacle. Second the various plugs tell the charger what amp to use automatically to stay at 80% so no user selection or user error can take place in the vehicle. 14-30 will always charge at 24amps, 5-20 at 16 amps, etc.

I wouldn't use any extension cord, splitter, or other device as people are recommending here. I'd be especially weary of a house with unknown quality of electrical wiring or unknown age of receptacles. There are thousands of NEMA 14-50 plus that people use and melt on 32amp EV chargers which can start fires and is only 64% of load. An EV charger is a HUGE electrical load as it is on 100% of the time nonstop for many hours. Ovens, dryers, etc are never on 100% of the time and the electrical wiring as well as electrical receptacles were not designed for this use.

Every EVSE charger manufacture explicitly says NOT to use any extension cables nor adapters with their chargers.

I use high quality NACS to CCS adapters and high quality NACS extension cables AFTER the EVSE charger and have little concern with those. I have tested that voltage drop numerous times and its very low indicating a quality connection. All of the EVSE safety is upstream on this setup.
