The last bit re: saving the planet was pretty cringe.

They don't talk about the things like 'vegan leather, etc, etc' with any indication that they're actually comparing the alternatives. I've made this argument in another thread - no, the R1s are not the most environmentally friendly EVs on the market, but they're better than almost every ICE, and while these may be 'rich people toys' (I don't consider myself rich, but everything is relative), every EV we get on the road is a net positive in pushing towards a future of no ICE vehicles.

Tesla started with their most expensive models too, but look where they are now. Can anyone really argue that lots of M3s on the road isn't better for the planet than every one of those being replaced with an ICE equivalent?

I also think Rivian is going above and beyond in this area with their corporate initiatives relating to conservation. Anyway... most of the video I enjoyed, but the end of it made me shake my head.

I actually liked this one a lot more than some of the others I've watched. Not the other ones were bad, i just think i appreciated the presentation style more here.

I like their channel, they really seem to like the R1T. And they show you can take the 22s out for some "light" off roading. I find the reviews from automotive journalists more useful than the earlier tech journalists that Rivian started with. As for the comments at the end, it reminds me of a South Park episode.

Never knew anyone was passionate about the Start/Stop button. Not the biggest fan of this guy, but appreciate the R1 coverage.
Oh I HATE the Start / Stop button on EVs, Ford, Audi, Hyundai, Kia all have a pointless button. Thankfully it looks like the new Chevy Silverado EV, VW ID.4 are getting the clue that a Start / Stop button makes zero sense on a EV.

Completely odd hate but it's one of the things I look for with the new EVs.

I agree I'm so oblivious I assumed everyone preferred no Start/Stop button. The thought that someone would passionately advocate FOR a button doesn't compute for me. I forgive the the automakers with their first gen EVs because I can see it as a transition step. But a brand new company building it in... seems a bit silly.

First real review using the 22s, solidifies my choice that these will work great for me. I think they said fully charged on the 22s in conserve had a guesstimate of 316 miles. ?

So if you remove the "power" button, then are you suggesting that the car solely relies on occupant detection for everything?

Seems like a waste of charge to me.

Agreed! This just solidified the choice for me as well. Just texted my guide to switch from the 20s.

It's a hardware vs software question to me.

The hardware for a button to be added has cost associated to it, you have all the things that make up the button (plastic, spring of some sort, movement, connection points, wire harness) that does what in return? Moves the car from a "sleep state" to "wake state"? In a ICE it makes total sense since there's not a huge battery plus you have different states in a car, ACC (wake) / Start (Run ICE) / Stop (sleep)

With an EV you already have all the needed hardware already in place, so a simple query of State can be done. The seats have a sensor already for weight which controls airbag and you already have a brake pedal. The logic is pretty simple and I believe at this point you could argue that the seat sensor is NOT needed and just go from "sleep state" to "wake state" on brake pedal pressure.

Ahh hardware button. Yeah i can see that.

I wouldn't mind a touch screen button that puts the car to sleep. Then use presence and idle timers to turn on/off the screen.

At 3:03 they say little flashlights (plural) in the door. Plural. First I've heard two mentioned. Can an owner confirm?

Debunked. Only one, and only on the driver's side.

If you say:
"all the Rivians have little flashlights in the driver's doors"
it'd work...
