Wonderful trip! One for the bucket list for sure!'
When planning these kinds of trips do you need reservations on the campgrounds that you spend the night in? How do you notify them that you plan to plug and charge while staying?

I quite often go hiking in the mountains, but I can tell you that just after sunset I generally I get an invasion of mosquitoes and I have to stay inside my tent to do any cooking and eating.

I wonder if you have any similar experience while using your open air kitchen?

Not the OP, but I do a decent amount of camping with my trailer and various EVs in the last few years.

For the state parks I camp at I start by checking the site for any language involving EVs - there is almost never anything, so I usually don't need to do anything other than the normal site reservation process.

They are providing access to power, and if there is nothing mentioned about restricting use, I'm good to go.

There are lots of trailers/motorhomes out there now-a-days that need 50amp outlets and have quite the draw (I've seen motorhomes with three AC units on the roof!), so I don't feel bad about charging up my truck's battery pack.

As a courtesy, I do take a look at the infrastructure and try to determine how old the circuit breakers, outlets, etc. are, and adjust the total amperage I'm pulling for safety. I've only had to do this once in the three years of EV camping - it was at a state park in Oregon that would trip my portable EVSE if it was pulling more than 16-20amps.

@NeverFollow - this trip we had few mosquitos to deal with. The advantage of late season and much of it in the drier west. On other trips mid-summer and in the NE or SE mosquitos did make an appearance. As you stated, sunset/dusk increases them. We just have to use repellents then.
