Get them. They are versatile, fit the roof or the truck bed. Sturdy enough to put a tent on them. They lock in place and are very easy to remove. The T channel is a standard size and lots of accessories fit them.

Get them. You are in Orange County. If you don’t like them, I’ll buy them from you are the same price.

Very easy to install and remove when not being used. Best crossbars I’ve ever owned because of that

Thinking about the wall mounts from Abstract Ocean
s00nish.com ones are good too!
If you have access to a 3d printer, there are plenty of files (Free) online that you can just built your own (for both trunk mount and wall mount).

I have found uses for the crossbars without any additional mounts - strapping down lumber, wrapping Christmas lights around, etc. But yes, for most usefulness, you need an additional accessory of some kind. Any brand of “crossbar-mount carrier for <thing>” should work, kayak, ski/snowboard, bike, cargo box, etc.

They are extremely simple to put on/take off. And the locks use the same key system as Yakima accessories, so if you buy Yakima bike rack/ski rack/etc, you can get keyed-alike locks.

Snowboards will fit in the gear tunnel if you have the R1T (you don’t specify) but not in the frunk. Skis won’t fit in any R1T locked storage. Obviously, both would fit in the R1S with creative packing. But for skis in a waterproof location, you’d need a crossbar-mount carrier.
I was going to make a full post, but thought I would ask here instead.

Yakima SKS key system ... I have a FAT CAT EVO 6 attached to my Rivian crossbars.. that's 6 locks, (4 riv/2 ski)

I can't find the Rivian CORES anywhere (wanted to buy 2 for the Ski rack, vs 4 for the Rivian, plus I like the plastic loop on the Rivian keys, better than the plain keys). Has anyone rekeyed an accessory and made it work with the Rivian Key?

My Ski keys are A13x and the Rivian keys are A16X series... Yakima website sells single cores up to A15x (not A16x) ... or can buy a 6 Pack and rekey them all the same, but like I said I like the Rivian physical key and would prefer to change 2 locks not 4 or 6.

BUT I LOVE THE Rivian Rack and LOVE the Yakima FAT CAT EVO 6 .... and for the most part I only use 1 key set at a time, so haven't bothered too much. Ski key for when I need the ski rack.... Riv key for removing the bars... not usually out an about doing both.

Yikes a bit of a premium, but I guess that makes sense! ($28 for 2 in yakima shop, but different key style... I guess not much of a premium since the $65 in the shop is for 4)

How much do I want 1 key?

Thanks for the info!!

I'm almost positive it is $65 for one.

It says "sold individually" in the Gear Shop, which actually shows out of stock at the time of this post.
