I do wish the connector on the truck were female as it is on every other air source I have seen.
Female fittings are longer. Since it only makes air on-demand it doesn't really matter that it's backwards from normal.

I have both of these Harbor friegh solutions i use in my shop and they both would work great the second one would be a good keep in the bag small addition. the Merlin is nice and easy to use.

The air connector you want is. Industrial type D you can tell that by the two bands on the female end. The threads will be 1/4 NPT

Except that becase female is standard for source you probably have all kinds of kit on hand that has, for example, male on one end of an extension hose and female on the other. But no, it is not earth shaking,

Does this even work without a reservoir tank? I assume you'll get something from the volume in the 20 ft. hose, but imagine it would be pretty inconsistent.

Yes. The truck contains a compressor that runs whenever the pressure at its output is less than what you have dialed in. You dial in say 50 psi. The compressor runs for a second or 2 until the hose is pressurized to 50 psig and then stops. You press the lever on the gun and air flows thus causing a pressure drop in the line and the compressor runs again. The amount of flow and pressure depend on how far open the valve is. As the compressor can't deliver much flow (a couple SCFM at most) you aren't going to be able to get much volume nor at a very high pressure. That's what the reservoir is for in a conventional compressor.

Must be a Canadian thing. All our blowgun attachments happily work at 130 psi.
if It’s an OSHA complaint one, it will reduce Pressure to 30psi when the end is covered, or be limited to 30psi in general. OSHA is a US thing ?

Although here in some provinces it’s illegal to use compressed air for cleaning under OH&S legislation

probably done the way it is as it’s to make both ends of the hose female, vs having to untangle 30ft of hose from a little storage pouch and find you’ve got the wrong end

from @Iwantatesla

if you’re after a better blow gun type attachment, take one of the ones from the kit with you to a store to find the right size fittings, if you can’t measure accurately.

edit: PSA, never use compressed air to clean your clothing or yourself. a surprising amount of damage can be done.
Never couple or uncouple pressurized hose.
The attachment is there in the bag it was hard to find lol I had to take everything out
