Alexa voice commands that work for me (updated with official full list)

Navigation has never worked for me. She just complains that she doesn't have my exact location. If I provide a city, she tells me it's 4000 miles away or something equally stupid.

Alexa is one of the top 3 worst things about the vehicle. She's slow, incorrect, annoying, and if you want half the functionality, you have to sign into provide tracking to Amazon. No thanks.

Navigation has worked fine for me every time.

"any navigation command generally works" - lol, I wish. Alexa is an embarrassment. I can't believe anyone actually uses it if they have a choice. I ask it to navigate to a contact, no idea what I'm talking about. I ask it to navigate to the address by spelling the whole thing out, doesn't understand what I'm saying, repeats back the wrong address. I'm visiting Milwaukee and ask it to navigate to the nearest <name your store> and it thinks I'm back home two hours away. It's been so utterly useless that I've honestly been astounded. Yesterday, I asked it to turn on the heated steering wheel, figuring that's a simple enough command. Nope, no idea what I'm asking for. What a joke.

That's weird because I use it all the time and say "Navigate to [store or restaurant name]" and it works fine. Lists possible matches, asks if I want to go to the top one.

How? Through your phone? Audible isn't integrated in the vehicle, so how does Alexa control it?

All the things Alexa control for media are because it is linked to Alexa, nothing to do with the car. I can play Spotify or Tidal through Alexa commands, but it isn't using the account in the car. This is the same for most skills that work. I can set my house alarm via commands in the car. Only a few car specific things are linked, I assume there is a Rivian skill it is using for that is kind of hidden.

Has anyone had success getting Alexa to play anything but Amazon Music?

Yes Tidal works. Need to have it linked to Alexa app like everything else.

The only Alexa commands I use is for a feature that the truck doesn't support natively.
"Alexa, play Butthole Surfers Radio from Pandora"

We know there is plenty to add still but there are some things that work better than I thought!

Turn on outlets” (is for vents NOT 110v)

O ise Alexa for amazon music, since the tune in is so weak

I also use Amazon prime account for music and it sounds great! Really like just telling Alexa what to play. Zac Brown Band "Toes" sounds phenomenal!

Open lift gate works most reliably.

Open charge door also works well.

Show navigation screen is helpful.

It’s so primitive to be listing commands. I wish they got rid of Alexa and simply used GPT3.5 or 4. Then you could say whatever your intent is in your words and the bot itself would help disambiguate. “It’s cold” - would you like me to turn on seat warmers and defrost? “Dogs in the back” - “ok I turned on the 3rd row fans”
We’re so past “commands” it feels ancient.

additionally, Rivian could just enable simple plugins for weather, mapping, traffic, road conditions, local events and lodging, charging, music and entertainment, etc etc and you’d instantly have something 10 times better than anything else out there.

I used "frunk" the other day instead of "hood" and she actually did it they must have added that. Also I like to use the "Alexa take me home"

'Frunk' has worked since day one, but it's not as reliable as 'hood'.
