Any R1S Delivery Updates?

Incoming email does not seem to be highest priority these days (took 10 days to get a response to my last email). If you want an answer in a hurry, best to use chat or call.

I originally had a "2H 2023" estimation for my r1s order, but that doesn't even seem to be listed on the page anymore. Am I looking in the wrong spot, or is it just gone? Seems like a bad sign if so.

Was kind of curious, but from this thread it seems like I should assume at least some delay. Kind of surprising that orders this close (May/June dates) are still not well-estimated.

R1S Adventure 04/20 RB OC 21" I was told yesterday that a new delivery window update would be sent in a few days...

This doesn't mean much, but I was at the factory yesterday picking up my yellow R1T, and there were basically no R1Ss around. I think we saw 4 in total (among hundreds of R1Ts). The few R1Ss I saw looked to be test vehicles.

Now, to be fair, I only saw the end of the line, and in the yard were exclusively trucks waiting to ship (and we didn't drive through the group). So it's possible there were either R1Ss mixed in that we didn't see from our drive-by, or that most of them were in the new giant tent they use for final validation and prepping.

Hopefully it's more that they just weren't around where I could see them, and not that they haven't begun producing them in volume at all.

One thing I'll say, the R1S looks amazing in person. The proportions are perfect. Photos do not show the vehicle styling well.

FWIW, and this is nothing more than hearsay, but I met someone on the Rivian subreddit who seemed to know an employee with a relevant position. The word was that they’re targeting August for the R1S. This news was from end of April. Most folks dismissed the comment, but I chatted with them privately and the more time passes the more I would trust what they had to say more than anything else that’s been shared re timelines. Only time will tell, and I can’t wait to get my R1S, but for an originally May/June delivery window I’m now expecting September+.

Just chucked my Polestar-2; potential buyer beware, Polestar's software is not ready for prime time. If you still want one, smoke a few joints before getting in...

…as we saw with R1T the delays don’t necessarily mean a linear shift in delivery dates. Expect something akin to what is happening to R1T now- batching, logistical challenges and errors, customer preferences means shuffling of the delivery order…

Complicating factor: the person you’re replying to ( @atlastracer ) may have to rely on BC Ferries to receive their rivian. This could add months ?

Truth. I would love them to deliver to my house. But I wonder if they will give up on that for us Vancouver Island folks and either A) do a coordinated delivery on the island of a few (via trucking them over at once on ferry) or B) have us go to Vancouver to pick up.

Tesla has been doing B) for years and it hasn't slowed down the number of people buying them on the island. Tesla is only now breaking ground on a service/delivery location in Victoria (ready in 2 years).

I'd like to think that this was all taken into account when they gave me my original July-Sept and Oct-Dec 2022 windows. But I don't; believe those are still valid. I'd like to see my R1S before my reservation ticks over 4 years old (Dec)......

I’d expect rivian to deliver directly since that’s a big part of their model. Wether it’s via transport truck on the ferry, or if they’ll just drive on to the ferry who knows..that will depend on number of orders

here in Winnipeg Tesla has done all sales out of Toronto. So you’d buy from the Tesla store there, and pay shipping to here. Maybe different now that they have a location in Saskatoon. They have a mobile service person located here full time.
