As a pre-order holder, do you pick the R1S Dual Motor for $59,920 - $7,500 rebate = $52,420 or wait for the R2?

I would take that deal - it almost makes we wish I had held out. We've hugely enjoyed our R1S for more than a year but it certainly had some teething issues. I don't need QM and could probably deal with the lower range for that kind of savings.

But remembering back to all the anxiety about delays...pricing...process...tax credit...available local SCs...I have to say I'm glad to have that in my rear view mirror.

Do you enjoy drama? :)

All R1S's are sold out in the shop. Yesterday 100s were listed.

If i Had the voucher I would go dual motor Large pack 100%.
Depends what zip code you are using. I still see R1S in the shop but I'm only a few hours from Normal.
Correct. Depends on the zip code. I see the configuration you want. You could apply the 20% off voucher and get it for $67,200 before tax credit.

Not trying to be argumentative, but it's based on location. I saw at least 8 last night, and today I'm seeing 11 MY 2024 in my area.

We've decided to hold the Rav4 Prime until R2 comes out, it's about the size more than price. Plus the base R2 will be $15k cheaper than this base R1S, tax credits being equal.

How do you plan on getting the full tax credit? Is it still possible to use a binding contract under the old law?
Pre-March 1 (🎗 Never Forget Our Sacrifice 🎗) reservation holders can lease now! So we qualify for the full $7500 can towards lease that new reservations gets. Lease it, buy it out after a month, same thing we did for Rav4 Prime and got $6500 towards lease.

You will get used to the size. My wife drives our R1T through our crowded schools turnaround with no problem. And the R1S is significantly smaller. The 360 camera is very helpful. Plus you get it NOW!

Worst case, if you really hate it, sell it when you get the R2 which is still two plus years away

I already submitted my request for $7,500 tax credit and received it with interest by amending my 2022 tax return.

I had a binding agreement that I signed and would assume that pre-order holders who signed one will also do the same on their 2022 returns or just claim half credit of $3,750 on their 2024 returns.

I agree it's one hell of a price and a lot of vehicle for under $60,000.
Didn’t you need VIN # to amend 2022 return?

I filed the day after I took delivery. I’m talking about future buyers who also signed a binding agreement like I did.

As much as I would like to buy the R1 for $59,920. I prefer the size of R2 for my wife who does not need a 7 seater or care for larger vehicles.

Here's to hoping we can get a dual motor R2 with 300 miles of range for $55,000 or less before rebates.

What are existing pre-order holders who were interested in a dual motor doing now that Rivian has aggressive offers to get people to shit or get off the pot by September?

Get the R1S now, drive it for two years and then get the R2. I bet the depreciation will be minimal.

You will get a long more for your $ with the R1 platform, but if you don't care for the size then you should wait for the R2.

I would rather be $60k into a R1S that, new, is worth $90+k than to be $60k into an R2 that's worth, new, $60k.

That said, it's your money, you're a big kid, do what makes sense for you!

$75k R1S* , it's base model.

You're mixing top and bottom of the line products in a weird way. Range and motor equivalent $60k R1S ($75k new, deducting voucher and tax credit) is a $38k R2 (deducting tax credit).

After thinking about it for a week and looking at the responses. I would 100% go with R1S dual motor over R2 in dual motor if I was still holding out with a pre-price hike order.

For me the selling point was adjustable suspension and off-road capability the R1 offers over the R2.

Now this deal a Reddit member got has to be insane value for R1 at the price of R2.
