Audio improvement after update 2024.27?

Can you please list what sound system you have? Saying it improved doesnt mean a whole lot when we don't know if youre on Meridian Elevation (Gen1), Rivian Elevation (Gen1), Rivian Premium Audio (Gen2 but is likely Rivian Elevation Gen1) or Rivian Standard Audio (Gen2).

I have Meridian Elevation and it sounds worse after the update.

Listening to the radio this morning after the update, 2 was too loud and 1 was too soft. ?‍

Me too, it's LOUDER. I have the Rivian Elevation system, listening to Amazon Music, not better, just louder and the decibel change from 1 to 2 is too large for my preference. I miss analog volume controls (a little).

quick way to check is by looking at the speaker grille in the front doors.

Meridian Elevation(Gen1) - it says Meridian Elevation
Rivian Elevation(Gen1) - there is a compass logo
Rivian Premium Audio(Gen2) - not sure, id guess there is a compass logo
Rivian Audio(Gen2) - from photos ive seen online there is no logo or markings, its just a blank speaker grille

What I’m noticing on my 2023 Gen 1 R1S elevation audio system is that after the update the non-Dolby atmos songs play on all channels and volume is good from 9-10 onward. Sounds even.

For some reason after the update the Dolby atmos songs sound bad.. the mids are too low.. the vocals are low.. the bass is high and the treble sounds too cheap and loud.. unfortunately Dolby atmos songs on highway with volume turned up, 3d sound off and dynamic sound off - sounds terrible- high bass and treble and low vocals.. even after multiple resets hard and soft

Same here - 2023 R1S Gen1 Elevation sounds pretty bad for dolby Atmos audio. The non-Atmos is louder (I used to have volume at 10-11, now I am using 4-5) and I think it sounds better.

I was so excited about Atmos that I got Apple music expecting the "spatial" channels to be awesome. Unfortunately, not the case. The audio is not rich at all and I found myself hating the atmos tracks. Changing the 3D effect setting seems to have no impact. I will grade the Atmos a fail at this point.

That said, the non-atmos tracks sound great on Apple Music. The addition of Apple Music is a definite upgrade. Thanks Rivian!

How come some members have good experience on Atmos songs? I am assuming any non-meridian is at this point on elevation audio and the experience should be same. Can those on non-meridian audio share what EQ settings they're on. I have a long drive and music is such an important part of it

After spending 2 days actually listening to the music, I think I'm going to turn off Dolby Atmos. This is mainly until they correct the volume differences between Dolby Atmos music and non Atmos music. The sudden jump in volume if jarring. Unless I'm exclusively listening to Atmos, I think this is a problem.

And simply lowering the volume manually isn't a good fix because you'll still be hit with the volume change before you can react with lowering the volume. Hopefully this is a quick and easy fix for Rivian.

About the volume being too loud between 1 and 2. I've also adjusted my EQ with a V curve but by going negative on the mids instead of positive on the low and highs. This seems to have helped reduce the volume of 2 and make it more conversation friendly.

As someone else suggested, maybe on a different thread, search "Dolby Atmos test" in Apple music to make sure all the speakers are working. I did that and found that several speakers were not working (Gen 1, Elevation). Soft reset fixed it. But even when they were working correctly, only some some songs sounded better to my ears on Atmos than with Spotify.

I tried Stairway to Heaven while still in a parking lot - 2023 Elevation Audio R1S. 3D and Dynamic off. Sounded decent. I will try later while on the road. Even though Dynamic is off I feel the R1S is trying to compensate. Also, I did a couple of soft resets. The atmos test on apple music had all speakers working fine.

Elton John - Rocketman. Sounds next level on Apple atmos.

Coldplay - In My Place. Sounds TERRIBLE on Apple atmos and way better in Spotify.

Fred again - Delilah (Pull me out of this). Didn’t sound as good in Apple atmos than Spotify but it was close.

I'll chime in after some hours listening after the update. Dolby Atmos tracks, and I tried many, sound terrible. Regular mixes on Apple Music sound ok, about the same as Spotify to me, which isn't that great to be honest. 2024 R1T with Elevation sound.

I tried several of the same Atmos tracks using headphones over BT from my phone and they sounded great.....
