Auto lock/unlock

My 2024 R1T has stopped consistently locking & unlocking (again, I'm getting tired of this happening, very tired). Now, I am partially in a garage so I get the "not connected to the cloud" or whatever it says often, but I've been in different parking stalls in the building & never had this happen. I guess the baseline question is does the truck & phone need to be connected to internet? How about I dump the app & just use the fob in my wallet? I feel like this is a very, very sketchy Rivian application & I'm the biggest fan you'll find, but very frustrated with this. It either works or doesn't work so the expectations & settings can be appropriate. I can't be sitting out on a busy 1st Avenue & have it decide not to recognize the app (it's open) for some time it seems necessary. Tired of it

If you are in within Bluetooth distance you can lock your vehicle with the app without internet connection. Turn off your cellular connection but leave Bluetooth on and it should still lock/unlock. I had to do that when I had terrible service once and it wouldn’t change over to Bluetooth.

Could be your phone is halting the app? No Internet needed. I've been to places with zero service

I had this problem on a 2023--turned out my bluetooth module in the drivers door handle was bad--it was fixable by remote service

My 2023 R1S started being flaky again right after the last update. Same with the steering wheel auto adjustment for the driver. Both of which were flaky when we got it in Sept but were fixed in the December update and worked pretty flawlessly but have since reverted since this last software update. I’m thinking it’s a bug and hoping it is fixed in the next update. It’s annoying for sure but I’m confident Rivian will address it and I LOVE getting continuous updates that add features and squash bugs.

Perhaps a different issue, but I recently had an issue where my R1S would not automatically lock or unlock when I was leaving or approaching the vehicle. Rivian service was very helpful. Initially, we did a soft "reset" (forget what this is called) using the outer buttons on the steering wheel. That didn't work. We then successfully fixed the issue by doing a full reboot (holding left-most button and SOS button). Problem solved.

Shout out to Rivian Service. They proactively created (and archived) a ticket for a mobile service visit with all the details in it. If my issue wasn't resolved, or happened again, they'd be ready to respond quickly.

This has been my experience using PAAK as well (hit or miss). So, I got annoyed and removed the phone altogether and tried a few days of the fob. It was OK but I missed all the features in the app. Back to using PAAK and living with it.

Is this issue not widespread? All of a sudden, PAAK doesn’t work to auto lock (or unlock). I’ve had nothing but near perfect success. But as of a few days ago, it NEVER works. I’ve already turned the feature on/off, turned bluetooth on/off, removed the bluetooth connection, force quit the app, logged out of and back into the app, and finally removed the key altogether and added it back. Nothing will make it work.

So I guess its a hard reset next?
