Haha I was about to say this post reads like it's coming from someone at Jack Pucks, before I saw that it literally is. I have no doubt you sell a superior product, with a price to match.

The concern about magnets losing strength over time is valid, but modern neodymium magnets are designed to retain their strength for many years.

The lack of bottle jack port is a significant consideration. Many commercial lifts don’t use bottle jacks but having the port can be useful for versatility in different lifting scenarios. I don't anticipate I'll have the need for it.

I'd say the potential for slipping is the most valid, critical concern, and I'll probably consider adding some sort of traction myself before they ever would get used. EOD I bought them "just in case," because I don't anticipate needing them often, if ever.

Thanks for the input.
LOL! It's all good. I figured from your comments you didn't own a Rivian... ;).

I did part of my research on rare earth magnets in the 80's for use in sputtering equipment for Applied Materials. The energy, rare earth materials and method of pressing the sintereed material on those cheap fridge magnets are designed for exactly that. Refrigerators.

We use a portable gauss meter to measure the magnetic field and energy and our magnets are aerospace grade (40+ MGOe rated). They have about 200% more holding power vs the cheap fridge magnets, which also lose 20% of their energy over 120 deg. F.

Commercial lifts use the pucks right on the lift themselvess, which is the metal on metal dilemma of slippage you have with those pucks.

Harbor Freight does well on low-end tools, so I understand the draw , but even HF has learned that there is a massive market for mid-ranged to high-end tools, so much so, it is now 40% of their sales. Same tool (?), same job, different price point.

We've shipped thousands of kits and are very thankful for the Rivian community, which supports fellow owners who offer far superior products. Enjoy the week and thanks for the feedback!

The XL was created for mainly those that off-road or need a single high lift magnetic jack puck while traveling. The four magnetic jack puck kit, is designed for tire rotations, changes, etc. Because the rear of the Rivian has more suspension droop than the front, it requires more height than the front to get a tire off the ground, which is the final reason the XL was created. As others have noted, you can use a jack pad or a simply wood block in the rear with the standard pucks to get the tires off the ground.

About 20% of our customers purchase both an XL and our kit together. So much so, that we created a discount code for that combination "Xl Combo". Hope that helps.

Below is a regular puck as included in our kits along with the Torin 10T Big Red Hydraulic Bottle Jack lifting the front of my personal R1T.

Below is our Grip Tech Sticky Cap, which 'significantly' reduces slippage on traditional commercial lifts used at tires shops.

Below is a great solution for a road side repair. If you have a nail or screw and a tire repair kit, you can simply take the load off the tire. Pull the screw or nail, insert a plug, air up and be on the road in a few minutes.

Where do you get that tire repair kit from?

What is the benefit of having the set of four? I was thinking of ordering one standard and one tall - but see that many order a set of four. I think I can only use one at a time, right?

Last I checked, @frambach, products at www.jackpucks.com are (all?) made in USA.

@Mark_AZR1T would know for sure.

Best wishes!
Thanks, Dave!

MP, you would use all 4 if you had a shop auto lift. That way the entire vehicle could be lifted.

For your average Joe, you might go for two so you could raise one side of the vehicle (with 2 jacks) to rotate your tires from front to back.

Approximately 90% of our Rivian customers purchase a complete kit, even if they don't plan to rotate their own tires. They do so to ensure that tire service centers, which often lack the necessary pucks, have the tools they need.

This is why our customers prefer the full kit, which includes four magnetic jack pucks and a protective case. I like to say, what a few of our customers have stated, for the cost, "peace of mind matters" or just-in-case mindset.

The fact that Mark has been through here and did not address:

doesn't bode well... :(

I'm 3d printing a prototype right now as I type - filament and printer from Europe, designed and tested in America.

I've already made a 'block' for the bottom of the OEM supplied puck to allow using that puck with a floor jack - instead of the Rivian supplied scissor jack.

Here's the puck.

I've tested it to 3t (6000lbs) in a press. Absolutely no problem. No weird sounds, no deformation, nothing. I don't know what it could actually withstand but, if Rivian Corpo says the jack should be rated for 3t, why press my little puck any further?

BTW, if you don't want a China jack, might I recommend AC Hydraulic? Made in Denmark. I've got several of their pieces. The benchpress I used for testing is from them as well.

I don't work for AC or AME but, AME has been good with helping me to import stuff: AC Hydraulic Garage Jack, 4.4 Ton - (ameintl.net)

@Mark_AZR1T I noticed that your XL Magnetic High Lift Jack Puck is only on pre-order right now. Without this, is it possible to jack up the rear of a Rivian with a Big Red 10T Bottle Jack and stack 4 regular pucks?

Stacking two jack pucks can work for rear wheel clearance, but it’s not ideal. A small RV jack pad or wood blocks are safer, more stable alternatives. Many stack pucks without issue but carrying a few wood pieces or a jack pad is a smarter solution. A single piece puck like our XL which will ship in 3 weeks is the best solution. I carry a kit, XL and an RV 2.5" thick jack pad in my R1T.
