You can add me to the list of R1S non meridian sounds system owners that are generally let down by the sound system.

There was another thread talking about a TSB on replacing the amp on R1S's to "provide more power to the rear speakers". If true, would seem to suggest they used the same amps from the R1T with a smaller interior and they're now changing that?

R1T non-Meridian System:

I started out by using AudioTools on iPhone to try an flatten out the sound a bit. Here's where I got with its EQ (and the corresponding RTA plots). I've run through this a couple times, and most times I seem to settle on a more subtle version of the "Voice/Vocals" preset curve in the Rivian but shifted down to avoid clipping. I just find that preset to be too harsh to my ear. Now I took a little liberty with the 63 and 125 to add a little punchiness back to the sound, but I'm finding that the vocals in most tracks are much clearer and more balanced than before.

I did note that 3D sound seems to mainly take the vocal range and spread it more around the cabin. Maybe this is a good thing for the rear passengers, but "Enhanced" can sometimes be a bit much. "On" seems like a good compromise.

My stereo sounds awful (non-Meridian). What's the consensus custom setting that sounds best?

I for the life of me cannot get a good sound in my non Meridian R1T.

It sounds horrendous compared to my previous Teslas. The base crackles on even normal songs. When the base is super deep, it's annoying. (Any Drake song lol)

Just picked up a Gen 2 R1S with "Premium" sound and am hoping something is wrong because I am flabbergasted at how bad my music sounds.

Doesn't help that my other ride is a refresh model S, but even compared to the wife's model Y this is really painful.

The best way I can put it is lack of separation/distinction amd almost no bass.

Anyone with a Gen 2 R1S Premium Sound find a good EQ setting for EDM/Synth?

There are a few threads about this regarding Gen 2s that you should search for and read. With some tweaks to your EQ settings, the latest SW, and a little break-in period and you'll find it sounds pretty good and only getting better as they continue to optimize it with SW releases. I used to hate the Premium audio in my car when I first got it back in September, especially coming from a Model X which had incredible audio but now it sounds really good.

Unfortunately the system is really awful. No matter how much you tweak it. May sound acceptable for most pop songs but rock, especially classic rock is a torture to listen to. Based on some great input on this forum, I will be upgrading mine shortly with JL speakers and amp. Not cheap by any means but I love my R1S so much that I am willing to spend.

I've had similar disappointments on the Gen2 Premium vs our Gen 1 Meridian. Hugely hugely better after yesterday's update to 2025.06.30. With a little eq adjustments I'm now sure I can get it be very similar to the Meridian.

I posted before on the lack of one side not having enough volume after first getting the Gen2. That was fixed by mobile who disconnected the 12v completely and then did some resetting. Seems that some of the amps are not coming out of assembly able to be fully powered.........

Go for it on the update though! and Thanks Rivian for "listening" and making that one go away right while parked in driveway.

I had the same issues coming from the Meridian from my Gen 1 and now having the Gen 2. I also find my volume is very quiet compared to my Gen 1. I will have to look into having a mobile service and having the 12v battery disconnected. Hopefully that will help.
