I'm not advocating using these parts as I don't know the quality of these but Rockauto has 3rd party pads and rotors. For $300 for the full set of rotors and pads or a set of pads for less than $100 I'd DIY those even if they only lasted 1/2 the life of OE ones.

Don't go cheap on pads, go quality. Unsure the quality of these, but I've had bad quality pads and the brake dust can be ungodly.

Power Stop is high quality. Not sure about the others listed.

FYI - I was quoted $250 for brake fluid flush - what do folks think about that price? I’m scheduled to have it done in a couple of weeks.

Good to know, I'll bring this up tomorrow. They're charging $40 just to inspect it, when I specifically requested a flush.

Now I'm looking at my work order again, there's a $200 "brake pads, other" labor cost. Add those together, $240, that might be a total flush. If so, $850 for flush and pad replacement isn't too bad. I think I'll just pay the man and move on with my life.

I confirmed this morning, "brake pads other labor" and that code are for the fluid flush. $240 sounds like a lot, but it's done right with the right tools, so that's fine.

I ponied up for the brake pad change too, frees up my Saturday for less stressful things.

All done, and I'm happy! Brake fluid flush, front and back pads (they didn't push me to get new rotors, even with 58k miles), all for $725.

To be honest, this is not that bad for dealership pricing on a ~80k+ MSRP vehicle.

In my personal case, I'll be looking into a bit more aggressive set of brake pads in the short future, basically because I'm spoiled with my other vehicle (weekend warrior with fully upgraded brakes rotors and pads, and with very sticky tires) so when I hit the brakes in the R1T (not that often, only when driving in Mexico ) I can feel that I could use a bit more of stopping power before the tires break traction.

But again, that price doesn't sound bad at all to me for dealership prices.

^ that's not unreasonable IMO... Who knows how much brake fluid they used flushing the system, that stuff's not cheap and the old fluid has to be disposed of properly too. You saved a lot of time and effort by having them do it.

10/10 would do it again, but hopefully won't have to for another 100k miles this time. When I swap wheels in spring, I'm definitely checking the pins and all for proper lubrication.

It was the fastest service experience I've ever had too, brakes and 2.4 hours fixing the tailgate were done same day I dropped it off. Looks like supervisor signoff happened next day and a full detail wash which was nice. I predict the service center delays for Puget Sound will steadily shrink this year.

Similar experience here, decided to let them do the brakes since I didn't want to risk chipping front calliper paint when banging out those pins.

Side-note: they also replaced my rear drive unit, rear half shafts, and rear disconnects under warranty after I complained about minor clunking between accel and regen. Didn't expect them to go all out , but the throttle-control and handling (I also got the front jounce upgrade) feel way smoother and composed now.

Side-side-note: 1 drive unit = $20k
