I had pet mode turned on. I then entered the vehicle via the passenger door and was unable to deactivate pet mode by touching the screen. Only way I could deactivate pet mode was to exit the car and re-enter from the drivers door. Has anyone else observed this?

I'm not sure this sounds like a bug. A passenger can't drive the car, so why would you want a passenger to be able to deactivate pet mode? It's not like you're getting in to put the car in gear and drive off, which would mean climate control is on and pet mode is not needed.

Of course, a person might open the passenger door to let the pet out, so I assume this might be your use case. Take Fido out for a walk/whatever, and turn off the pet mode. It might be a minor nuisance to need to get in the driver's seat to switch off pet mode, but it isn't necessarily a bug unless it's intended to work the way you expected, but does not. It might be working as designed, in which case what you may be seeking is a feature improvement.

One thing I'm sure of is that I've not given it enough thought to say the behavior you described isn't a good thing from a safety perspective. I'd much rather have pet mode on when I don't need it than off when I do. That's me, though - you may see it differently.

Fair enough. I suppose an actual pet in the car could accidentally touch the screen and disable pet mode, which could be a pretty bad scenario.

My particular use case here was that I was dropping off my kid somewhere and needed to be with him for 10 minutes. After those 10 minutes were up, I needed to go back and work on my laptop in the car. It was very hot outside so I put pet mode on to keep the temperature reasonable while I was out for those 10 minutes. I came back in via the passenger door, because there's more space to work on a laptop in the passenger seat due to a lack of steering wheel. But I also wanted to use the screen.

If that's the case, then maybe another option for you would be Camp Mode. You can set and hold the temp that way, too. I've not used it, so I don't know if it can be controlled from the passenger seat, but it might be.

Also, I think you can control the climate from the app on your phone. People use that to precondition the climate before a drive. That might also work in your use case.

I believe your dog deliberately tampered with the system while you were out of the vehicle.

Are you sure you didn't press on the brake? I haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure the screen doesn't come off Pet mode unless the key is in the car and the brake is pressed.

My dog "deliberately" tampered with the AC settings on her side (she rides in the passenger seat as I've got two child seats in the back). She likes to put her nose close to the vent right below the screen, and I think she inadvertently used her nose to open up the climate controls and adjust them... Fortunately, I found her adjustments and promptly set them back into a tolerable range.

I do this all the time. Never had an issue shutting it off from the passenger side.
