I wonder how much (if any) "Drift Mode" biases the power to the rear? The Gen 2 RAD tuner could make it happen, I'm sure.

Random thought but can you do a burnout in a Rivian? I know they have more than enough HP/torque to do so but can you disable the traction control so you can do it?
Why? you hate the stock tires that much? jk

Given how fricken expensive tires are nowadays, burnouts don't make any sense are you are burning $$$$ in the process!!

We drive Rivians. We've got money-pool-vaults Scrooge McDuck style in plurality. If we don't melt tires, who will keep the tire companies running?

When new in May through at least July of '22, my quad R1T (because that was the only model/option at the time) on 21s would do a standing burnout with all 4 tires when I'd launch in sport mode. It would leave tire tracks on the pavement from all 4 tires! At some point, they "adjusted" the traction control and it doesn't do that anymore, it just pulls very hard.

Totally unrelated, my stock Pirellis only got 13k miles. I can't explain it 🤷‍♂️

Put the right tires on and be in the right place and you can spin all 4. I swear officer, I didn't do it intentionally, I was just trying to merge into traffic!!

See THAT'S what I'm talking about. So they can do a burnout, it's just the computer has been programmed to not allow tire slip.

I've always wondered the point in burnouts as they literally strip the rubber off of an expensive tire, and also exponentially increase the odds of breaking something.

Hard pass for me.

A little standing on the water + sport mode should do the trick

I got to say I don't get the visceral reaction to the thought of doing a burnout. You'd think I said I like to beat puppies with a baseball bat for a hobby. IMHO it is fairly harmless if done responsibly. If you don't want to do one, then don't do it. If someone wants to do one in their own vehicle, I don't see the problem.

For the record when I get my Rivian and if it were easy to do, I would do it once just to see what it could do. After that I would probably not do it again if only for the reason (exhaustively pointed out here) it is hard on the tires. Expensive tires which I understand already have a pretty short life as it is.
