Rivian. For the love of god, turn off the Butt in the Air stopping reverse.

I regularly lift up to see over seats to reverse. My eyes are better than your camera.

Also. I cannot tell you how often on long road trips, I stretch my legs by arching up and taking my butt off the seat, or I need to rearrange “goods” for comfort that require a little lift up off the seat.

Your setting is a bit extreme.

I’ve driven in reverse off a seat for decades. Sometimes even hanging out a door.

Give me some credit and leave the decision to me please.

Welcome to the year 2022. Use your mirrors and/ or cameras.

Yes. Can't use my mirrors for that.

Does the auto park behavior only happen in reverse in reaction to a missing butt?

I think everyone should be required to pass CDL training for many reasons

I look over my shoulder out the rear side window and rear cab window... Never had to lift my butt to do it. Are you really short?

w00f.

If we were on a golf course and I looked at the yard markers would you scoff and tell me to use a laser range finder?

Mirrors are good. Cameras are good. Yes yes.

No, not short, but angles are angles. Higher eye line, better view of certain spots in various reverse scenarios.

Whiny or not, the choice should be mine.

What other car does this?

I use the "butt in the air" method when backing the boat down a steep ramp... it's the only way to see what the extreme back of the boat is doing (coming too close to the floating dock, etc..) because it's way below the rear view mirror coverage.
Reportedly, releasing the seatbelt will disable the shifting into park behavior.. guess I'll find out when I get my truck.

In all sincerity, CODogman, Appreciate all your posts and insight on the forums.

Wasn’t really asking for help. Just venting for cartharsis.

Wasn’t really expecting people to respond like I was saying it was a great idea Rivian didn’t do Carplay. o_O

HAhahahaha

I thought that picture was an advertisement. Didn’t realize the content.

Finally clicked on it and noticed the search.

Almost as good as a “let me google that for you”.

Well played.
