Great idea, but the panel gaps hurt my eyes. The gaps in the right/left not matching the gap on the top looks bad. Also the corner radius not matching the radius of the opening.

Between those two things it makes it look like a random baskets stuck in there rather than something custom designed for the space.
Just to clarify - the night picture I took last night does look like there are big gaps & discrepancies...not sure why, it's the lighting...the gaps are similar to the camp speaker and they are identical on all sides. Nonetheless, as I mentioned earlier - I got it loud & clear that the front needs work before release...just wanted to clarify - the fitment is pretty good, but the shadows make it look like it's terrible. Sorry took this photo at like 1am in poor lighting out of excitement to share.

I just got the update and tested it... it does NOT work with my prototype, even though my prototype latches perfectly. So I suppose while they are probably going to release accessories for the dock soon, they are keeping the locking proprietary and it will require some form of authentication (be that something as simple as just electrical load or something more sophisticated).

So even with that feature, my drawer won't lock ?‍♂

It gonna be years before we see rivian release this based on their track record

Not a big deal for some of us, I'll use it to store bed tie-down straps, gloves, stuff like that which has no need to be secured.

A weekend with 2 kiddos didn't seem busy enough so I figured I should do a drawer replacement for the camp speaker too :)
This is nearing production readiness. Here are some photos and some remarks.
Also, it latches so there is a nice click to it when you operate it, but Rivian refuses to lock the latch. I will figure that one out for v2.

Any thoughts, ideas etc before I release this?

Looking forward to this being available.

On a separate note, I've held off on the floor console organizer, however, if I get this, would likely get both. My question, are you going to offer a modified version of it to slot out the front portion of it so the new storage tray can still slide in and out. With the non-used camp speaker, wasn't an issue, but now that that will be a usable storage drawer, wouldn't want to have pull out the organizer every time I need to access it, which would be quite often.

Possibly it's as simple as just trimming just the front end? Or your program maybe can be revised to lower the front edge a little? Appears it wouldn't need much (see image below from your site)

And, just throwing it out there again, still would love for rear half (toward front of truck) to tilt up and allow for a little deeper storage. With the cover on it, would be a great place to put your phone. I know you said that complicates 3D printing. That was a few months ago, so just checking to see if there's been any further thought given to that?

Certainly buying the drawer storage. Likely will buy the console organizer if the front edge can be trimmed to allow the drawer to come out with it in.

Thank you.

It's on my todo...I actually made some progress on this about a month ago but I wanted to do the cup holder completely differently so it can accommodate all sorts of cups...that's where I was at last. I hope to finalize it soon as you are right - it only makes sense to make our own products compatible with each other :)

Match the texture and curve of the front. Or cover it with little Rivian logos :p . Add a cup holder insert. Add a detent so it will sit halfway out. slots for dividers. False bottom so we can hide stuff below. Rubber feet or strips so we can sit it on a table top to go through it or clean it. A trough to catch the drips that fall down from the cup holders.
You could do a survey here of what features people like, because clearly I have gone off the rails.
I actually dislike the camp speaker because of the wasted space.
You could run a dovetail from top to bottom of the sides and add slots to the back of the front plate to get rid of the screws.
this one is genius - I’d double add locking capability and make the cup holder for the big drinks!
Nice! So the common theme is to do the front differently. I will work on that.
To clarify a few things that were mentioned:

1. This is indeed 3D printed, but also the final version will also be 3D printed (with ABS). The reason is that we do all design & manufacturing in-house, we don't outsource. I hope to get an injection molder in the near future but for now I don't have one. I am also getting a vacuum thermoforming machine so that particular product might be viable, will see... but for the next few months this is certainly only being 3D printed.

2. Liners - yes, we currently use leather for our liners and there will be leather liners in this too, I just haven't made these yet but for the final version I will.

3. Locking - I am actually trying to figure this one out. I too would appreciate locking due to lack of secure storage in the RIvian. In the other hand, let's face it - this is plastic. Unless it's metal or similar, any able bodied person can just rip it off regardless of locking. Still locking would be cool and I am trying to figure out how to cheat the Rivian that this is the camp speaker :)

4. Charging - I haven't thought of it, but will look into it. Perhaps something for v2 as this feature will take considerably longer to implement.

5. Front plate - okay, noted! It seems the cut out acrylic for a front plate wasn't the best idea :) I will see what to do about it, will need a few days to experiment. Ultimately it would be best to 3D print it all in 1 pass to reduce labor too. I can likely put the screws on the inside and have the tension inserts into the acrylic, although the area inside would be hard to access to put the screws in, but either way - well noted that the current solution is a no go. I will work on that.

6. Heater/cooler - unfortunately that would be outside of my current capabilities.

7. Dividers - noted. This is also contingent on how I end up doing it, because right now I print it upwards (the locking latch being at the bottom), hence the lack of "top" which when used is the front. With that orientation dividers would be tricky, but I will try other orientations and see what happens.
Love it! I’d double down on the false bottom instead of locking and make the cup holder big for them large and tall drinks!

You are TWRAPS, you should just wrap the front with a nice texture. Will hide all manner of sins. I saw another Rivian accessory maker do it and it added a much needed high quality feel that 3d printing on its own just doesn't give.

That's an option but just FYI that front plate is not 3D printed. It's acrylic. I generally try to avoid labor as much as possible (wrapping this is labor, so would the cutting and assembly of the plate be), as labor tends to be error prone and since we're in the Bay Area - it's also very expensive... now I am experimenting if I can just 3D print it all at 1 go, so far no luck but will keep trying. If all else fails, acrylic it is and I will do the screws either from behind or wrap the front plate with leather or similar.

One item to consider is how will it hold up to high temperatures? I have a 3D printed insert for the center console and it got so hot inside the truck while sitting at the Dallas service center it warped the material and is not unusable. Might not be an issue with the drawer but something to consider.
