Periodically the camp speaker will run down on power and make a triple note low power chirp via the main speakers. Anyone know of a remedy? I can't understand why it runs down when docked and locked. Tempted to just shelve the thing.

Can't help you with why it's not holding a charge, or maybe it's not charging in the first place.. but rather than "shelving it".. keep in mind it's covered by the vehicle warranty. If it's broken/not working properly Rivian will make it right for free.

Unless you use it I would replace it with a drawer. I got the one from BestEVmod and shelved the speaker. I taped the contacts so it doesn't lock. I wish there was a way to unlock it from the quick access pullout menu on the left of the screen but it's just too cumbersome.

I did the same and happy I did. I spent way too much time trying to get the speaker to stay turned off and hold a charge. So now I have a useful drawer and a $450 paperweight which also happens to be the least reliable Bluetooth speaker known to man ?

The speaker is a great thought but in reality, it really isn’t that great sounding. You can’t crank it to make it loud…..maybe that is by design. When you are camping you don’t want to blow your campsite neighbors away….make it able to be changed. I’ve taken it out a few times to use it.

I wish I could put a safe in its place for my “pew pew”

I have a fingerprint locking safe drawer in place of my camp speaker. I put a spare cell phone, cash, etc. in it. It is big enough for a Bodyguard 380 but not a Glock 19 or a Byrna. Ask me how I know. You can still pry the drawer out if determined enough. Fingerprint reader works well. Can't find the email from them at the moment. Pretty sure it was this site: XCD Shop - Accessories for Rivian R1T and R1S

I can't remember the full backstory on this, but periodically it needs to be recharged via USB-C plugged into a traditional receptacle. It sounds like you're at that point, if you bring it inside and do this, then you can resume docking it and letting the vehicle maintain the charge. I've owned my R1T for 2-1/2 years and I think I've done this "reset" procedure twice during that time?

Interesting. I had not seen this product before and it looks to be great alternative to a traditional locking glove compartment. Looks like the seller has put a lot of thought into this. He should patent the idea. Not too pricy but I wonder how much the finished and painted version is? Of note, I have a cheaper 3D printed slide in drawer with a flat front. Not nearly as integrated looking and does not latch in. I am guessing though mine is a little larger since it does not need drawer slides of electronics in the front end.

I can't even figure out how to slide it out. It's always been locked in place. I have gone into the settings , hit connect and hit locked but nothing happens

I have yet to even pair my phone with it. I should just get a BestEVMod drawer and call it a day. For such a large vehicle, the interior storage space is paltry.
