Maybe because they need apps that do not work well with AA/CP or do not offer fully featured versions. Like ride sharing/deliver drivers , they need phones anyway

No the cars I'm talking about aren't rideshare or delivery; literally suburban moms.

Interesting that the OP places such a high priority on AA/CP. Tesla owners have also complained about that vociferously for years, and even now it is only possible to have them available through 3rd part add-ons.

As a long time Apple user, after 13 years of driving only Teslas I still don’t care about having CP, nor do I care much about the rest of the OPs list.

Everyone has their own priorities…

And yet somehow, without CP/AA, the MY is the best selling car on the market. So maybe some keyboard warriors aren't actually following thru.....

The question is do you make your vehicle purchase decision based on not having the album artwork being displayed??

Without exaggerating, I'd guess I have seen/read over 200+ people make the claim that without AA/CP -- the car will not be considered.

I literally see cars with phones mounted on the dash, even if the car has AA/CP, on a daily basis....

Mee too. I always wonder why....

Then, recently, my wife and I started doing SCCA road rally. I now have a mount for my phone in a vehicle that has CP. It's used for the GPS distance and timing app during the (time-distance-speed) rally.

I suspect that's not the reason why most people do both though....

Check back on those same individuals in 6-12 months and see how many still ended up purchasing a Rivian or Tesla without AA/CP...

People used to buy Teslas just because they were Teslas, even without properly working connectivity in some parts of the world, just to save on gas. But there is much less reason to buy one anymore because there are so many good enough alternatives now. The US market is very different and less competitive, which is one reason Tesla is still so popular here.

Not sure how the R2 console works, but the R1T Gen 1 is a disaster if you try watching video or listening to music

I agree that haven’t car play isn’t as big of a deal in Rivian or Tesla. The only thing I miss is access to Waze.
