I got other things to concern myself with than those out of my income range. Such as getting my kids to school on time, buying groceries, watching the price of gas go up and then down and up again. At this point I just need to make sure my retirement income is solid so I can live comfortably with. whichever of my kids will have me. :)

He should get whatever his compensation package requires. If it were privately held then he should have 100%.

I understand that this is a difficult concept for some.
As soon you read the ownership structure (multiple types of stock), board selection method & composition and then how the pay package was created (and by whom) I will start listening to you. I have loved all four of my R1Ts, but the last thing stockholders needed (I'm not one) is a $400 million dilution hit. And we won't get into the billions of state, local and federal subsidies that via this crap end up in RJ's pocket. Maybe he should be more focused on building a truck that doesn't have mysterious rattles & wind noises and take a percent of the PROFIT the company makes instead.
Admittedly he isn't the only CEO who does this, but doesn't make it right.

… I reckon most billionaires still pay a decent chunk of tax somewhere. Probably more than all of us on this fourm combined. Perhaps a smaller proportion of their wealth but they're just following lax rules…
Yes, the tax rules written by legislatures the ultra wealthy have bought and paid for.

I reckon most citizens would be shocked and outraged if they actually knew how little tax the ultra wealthy really pay and how much your tax dollars go to subsidize their wealth.

I wouldn’t mind the upper 1% of our fellow citizens utilizing these tax strategies, er, scams if the country wasn’t in such tremendous debt and the rest of us struggling to pay for healthcare, housing, healthy food, and other such Outrageous luxuries.

But this falsehood that the wealthy pay so much in taxes really needs to be pointed out and debunked so completely that it can never effectively be used ever again.

Keep plugging away for wealth redistribution instead of supporting innovation and wealth creation. You do it non-stop every chance you get here. I just wanted to post to make sure you knew you aren't in your own private echo chamber. Reddit is super receptive if that kind of stuff.
I was a practicing ER Doc for 35 years. I’m going back to work, charging $1M for each life saved. Maybe one a month? I can skip all the abdominal pains, back pains, alcohol withdrawals, etc. The heck with that Hippocratic Oath stuff. Maybe put me at the head of the R2 trimotor line? Yea baby.

Hyperbole aside, feel free to start a pain management practice or go back for a neurosurgery residency. The ones I know in those areas are highly compensated. Ultimately it's on you that you chose to be a public defender in the field of medicine.

I suppose this means RJ is a scumbag too just like Musk. Making too much money yet all the Rivian failures. Declining growth for mutliple years in a row, Self driving fail, delayed R2, R3 launch, poor service and long wait times for repairs, lower than average vechile reliability, ect..
Sarcasm!, Hypocrites!

My final point before I tap out and make myself more unpopular with you nice folks...

Let's not let the 'theory of relativity' (ie they have more than me) cloud our judgement. I reckon most billionaires still pay a decent chunk of tax somewhere. Probably more than all of us on this fourm combined. Perhaps a smaller proportion of their wealth but they're just following lax rules.

Then think of the people they employ. How many folks does AMZN, Meta, Google, NVDA, MSFT employ and give benefits, as well as a purpose to?

Now think about the employees of all those who make, market and sell supercars, private jets and yachts.

Then consider those who give money away today to good cuases and those who have pledged to give a shit load away and consider what you've given to charity.

Just saying. They ain't all as bad as we like to think.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

Bon nuit.
Honestly sick and tired of this lazy argument. Ooohhh, Google employs so many people. Sure, it’s also a crap environment and as soon as they can fire people, they are doing it.

No one can even articulate what Meta does except sell scam ads - which they admit is 17% of their revenue! Scam ads! But hey, they employ soooo many people who are a hair’s breadth away from being terminated. Lovely place. Zuck killed a school for the underprivileged as soon as it wasn’t “cool” in the eyes of the admin. But maybe those kids should be grateful.

Look, billionaires influence so much that their contributions are outweighed. They are 000000 interest in spreading the wealth. They will do everything they can to keep it in generational trusts and pay less than you can imagine in income tax — like 2% on a few million a year.

So, am I upset they made that much money? Not at all. I don’t need any more money myself. But, to say they should have all this disproportionate wealth and power while 75% of America suffers because they created some jobs they are about to cut is just lazy.

Four pages... Really? CEOs get paid a lot. This is hardly news. Since the 1970s, on average, CEO pay has risen over 1,000% more than the workers they head. So what if RJ did get 403M. Does that change your life at all? Seriously. Much ado about nothing.

Is RJ a scumbag for maximizing his personal profit? Was it his idea to structure his compensation package in the way it was structured? I am guessing the most likely scenario is that he was following the advice of his financial planners. Many of us would probably do the same thing.

The problem is the structure of the system itself. This is what needs to change. This is how empires fall, when each individual is only looking out for themselves, and maximizing personal benefit, it has a detrimental effect on the body politic and society in general.

There used to be among the elite, a certain eschewing of ostentatious wealth, it was seen as a very tacky, tasteless nouveau riche practice. But today it is expected.

I am reminded of the country of Haiti, where the ultra elite live in palatial splendor high in the mountains of Pétion-Ville, taking weekly private jets on shopping sprees to Miami, while the masses sit in fly-infested open sewers flowing in the slums of Cité Soleil far below them. I also remember the feeling deep in my core of both shock and disgusting contempt I felt for those who had so much wealth yet so little regard or empathy for their fellow citizens living in such profound poverty and squalor. If you had told me then that I was looking at the end-stage capitalistic state of my own country, I would not have believed you.
