R1S hasn't been driven in a couple days, and when I hopped in today, it had a 73% charge. I also noticed the other day it had a 71% charge.

The weird part is, my charge limit is set to 70%.

It's kept in an attached, closed, but unheated garage. Temps have been in the 30s lately.

Plugged into a Rivian wall charger, running at 40a.

What would be causing this?

Mine has been doing the same thing, and I've never noticed it before, so I'm assuming it is tied to the most recent software update. Are you using scheduled charging? I've wondered if at each scheduled charge it starts charging, adds a percent, and then stops again, so after a few days without use it is up to 72% or 73%, because it seems like it stops at 70% the first day.

My electrical bill is much smaller when I don't keep the truck plugged in at all times. Its a grid vampire too. BMS system gets greedy when its plugged in all the time.

I've noticed this several times in the past, and I do not believe it is relative to the latest update. I think it is related to ambient temperature. If I reach my charge limit and the ambient increases by a significant amount (10+°F) after charging, I'll see a 1-2% increase in charge.

Not using scheduled charging. Plugged in when it's in the garage, that's all.

That could be possible. It was low 30s two days ago and today was mid 40s.

I would try setting up scheduled charging. Assume this would help alleviate that issue?

Temperature and chemistry. Like you, the electrons are less active when cold. Same reason why there is preconditioning to warm pack to take charge more readily, under more ideal pack temps… and control of motor temps to facilitate better operating conditions. When you see motor temps climb or in red, they are not overheating, not until you receive a warning message stating so.

Just as a data point, I have scheduled charging overnight. I drove it on Wednesday, and Thursday morning it was back at 70%. Thursday evening it was at 70% still, and Friday morning it was at 72%. When I've left it for two nights, I've noticed it get up to 73%.

No real change in temperatures to speak of (and it's been in the garage). It's only been doing this for the last couple of weeks. Didn't do it earlier in the year when we had days with 40 degree temperature swings, and didn't do it last winter.

My R1T has been doing that for a long time. I even reported it here in this forum but the general consensus was just to unplug, restart the software and replug the charger. I tried this several times but it never worked. Mine is set to 80% but everyday it keeps creeping up. It sometimes goes up as high as 86%. I don't drive R1T everyday so I leave it plugged for sometimes 2 weeks. Maybe this is the problem who knows?

I have a question about scheduled charging. I use the travel L2 charger and I set it up so that it charges on weekdays. I plugged the car in Friday night at 1130 pm and the blue light came on. I checked Saturday morning and it had been charging for 8 hours and only stopped when it hit my max of 70%. Again I plugged in this afternoon and it immediately started charging and stopped when it reached 70%. Does selecting Weekdays, on the app, mean that it follows the schedule on weekdays, but just charges anytime it’s plugged on weekends? My understanding was that it will only charge on weekdays at the specified time.
