Have been having an issue over the last couple of weeks with the car not releasing the plug on my home charger. It is happening when the car has reached the charge limit. I have a Siemens brand level 2 charger and have used for a Chevy Volt, Honda Clarity, and Tesla model Y (with adapter), have not had this problem before. I opened the frunk, lifted the trim piece and pulled the manual release the first time it happened. The second time I reset the charge limit so that the car would begin charging and was able to release the plug. I contacted Rivian support and they were not able to provide a solution, so I took it into the service center. They could not replicate the problem. After taking the car home I tried something else that worked. Opened the car door to awaken the car, then pushed the plug button and the powered button in the charge port at the same time and held for over 5 seconds. That has worked.
When I mentioned to the service folks that this issue seems to have come up right after the latest software upload they did mention that there was a change in the charging programming.
Have had the car three months now, it has been great overall.

I've had this happen to me several times. I have found locking the car and then when you are unlocking the car... pull the charger out at the same time when you hit unlock and it will come out. I have found either it hasn't fully stopped charging and sync with the car if you hit "stop charging" seems like it takes a bit. But lock it, then unlock and pull out at the same time works for me...

I had this issue specifically with a clipper creek unit. The fit inside the port is more snug than what I'm using now, Tesla Universal Wall connector. Since I switched, I've only had this issue with the clipper creek. I think w/the tighter fit, there must be an alignment issue w/the locking pin, and it doesn't release as easily. I've found that I had to do the same things as others mentioned. Lock/unlock, etc. I think doing that tiggers the pin again. and at somepoint it just releases.

Having the same issue with the provided Rivian mobile charger and put in a ticket. Only occurs after a decent amount of charging time. No issue with the Tesla universal charger at home. Service appt is today and will let you know if I get any good info other than what has already been shared.
