Charging during extended vacation away

I will be away from home for a month or so later this year and I am wondering about the best way to charge my R1T during that time. I have a home charger 15-40 wall outlet and I will be leaving the truck in the garage.

What is the best way to set up my charge cables to keep a charge on the battery? Any suggestions would be appreciated since there may be more than one way to get this done.

This. We’ve been on a few 2-week plus trips since getting our R1 and we just leave it plugged in.

Leave it plugged in. If you want to set the charge limit to 50-60% but 70 is fine too.

When I leave for extended periods I charged the Tesla to 75% and plugged in with the set to 50%, I never had the charger actually kick in.

Have not left the Rivian for an extended time but will use the same process iffI do.

Went to FL for 7 weeks this winter. Left it plugged in set to 50%. Watched it via the app as it topped off every few days. On the way home I bumped it to 70% where we usually keep it, and it was ready and waiting when we arrived.

R1T Newbie here. Flying out for a week, leaving R1T home, and my hardwired wall charger has not been installed yet. Truck will be around 80% when we leave so any concerns with just plugging-in to the 120V outlet in garage with the Rivian Portable charger in and set my limit to 50% while we’re gone?

A week is nothing to be concerned about. Your plan to set the charging limit to 50% is what many consider optimal.

In reality the difference between leaving it at 50% or 80% for a one week trip is negligible and would be difficult to measure with even the most accurate test equipment.

So utilizing the Rivian Portable charger and plugging in to a 120V outlet in garage shouldn’t be an issue. It would only be in-use if for some reason the SOC dropped below 50% and I could up the limit prior to returning if I wanted more range when I get home. I realize that the Portable charger/120V combo is very slow but that’s my only option at this time. Thanks

I only have charged with 120v at home for over a year and it works well but a little slow if you have a daily commute. If you are at 80 percent you should be in the low 60’s if you do not plug in at all. I would set to 70 percent and plug into 120v.
