Rivian's biggest achilles heel is the need for a faster charging curve even moreso over more range. If the R1T had faster charging, I'd already be an owner. Instead, I'm still weighing it vs the upcoming Sierra EV AT4
After you posted this, OTA version 2025.18 was released. It provides a very significant improvement in DCFC speed. Sure, the GM trucks are faster, but I think 10-80% of a 141 kWh pack in 35 minutes is really, really good. IMO on a road trip that is an acceptable time to wait. It is longer than a simple pee break but so is the time it takes to charge a GM truck.

I am coming from a Mach-e, and the difference is night and day. I can go so much farther in my Tri-Max after charging for 35 minutes than I ever could in my MME. I love it. (I know the MME is not a tow vehicle, but this is what I can compare to from personal experience.)

I looked at an AT4 EV yesterday that had arrived mostly because I was curious. It was still wrapped in its plastics so I couldn't take it for a test drive, although the pushy salesperson graciously said they could get it unwrapped quickly should I want to buy it and drive it home. I wanted to ask them a bunch of questions on their V2H systems, but per usual, the floor salespeople are not very useful.

I can get 140-170 miles doing 60 mph, and would get close to 200 if I slow down even 5 mph.
You can get 140-170 miles from a large pack road tripping towing a camper?
What SoC are you at when you pull into and out of the charging station?
200 @ 55mph, really?
Best I have done with the same pack towing a dual axle 7x14 cargo was 150miles (95%-3%) on my regular route through a mtn pass on the downhill trip back home. I was not able to do the speed limit for the last 1/3 of the trip. I can not make it there on 100%.
The Trailboss max or extended range would both easily make it on the uphill route.

The big, crazy test for me was back in September - left my house at 99%, pulled into an EA at 4%, and that was 140 miles - while fighting cross and headwinds sustained in the 20mphs, gusting higher. Wind was killer.

I logged the whole trip (and my other towing adventures) in a thread here. I'll link to the post where I recorded that specific day here.

For the record, I never drive more than about 62mph when towing - it's actually Washington State law that any combined rig more than 10k lbs has to do the truck speeds. Plus, it just feels safer to me.

On another trip, I got 100 miles and arrived at my campsite (on one charge) at 45%. The limits for most of that trip were 55mph, which helped for sure.

Guess what I'm saying is that if you drive a bit slower, you really are gonna win out in the end - with the weather in one's favor.

Well I broke down and bought a Sierra EV AT4. It just check more boxes for me doing truck things. I've only had the truck 10 days and I've already used the midgate several times hauling long items.

Charging speed is great. Charging door is in a better spot so no taking up two spaces at superchargers.

I'm an android auto user and the built in android automotive system and Google maps is nearly identical to regular android auto.

Finally range won out and the overall size coming from a full size F150, the Sierra EV is an easy transition to world of Electric trucks.

I wish all the Rivian owners well. Now don't take up my space at the Tesla SC ;).

As they say, if you don't post pictures, it didn't happen. Share your truck photos already!

The Silverado won't fit in my garage, so it isn't even on the list.
My R1T won't fit in my garage, yet it is still number 1 on my list.

My R1T fits on our single car garage side with about 3"clearance in each mirror. I have been parking it like that for 3.4 years now.

I've kept my last three trucks parked outside and trading then in after 5 years with little Ill effects. None would fit in my garage.

But you will not like the charging curve at the Tesla SC, at 400V.

Typically, likely because I live in a very hot climate, the Tesla chargers thermal limit quickly for both my R1T and Hummer. They always start at 185-200kw, then drop quickly to 110-120kw after about 2 minutes. This happens even with only 1 or 2 other vehicles charging.

my limited experience was topping out at more like 155-158 and holding for quite awhile. Do different adapters perform differently?
