I have a 2023 R1 S. The right rear passenger door cannot be open from the inside. I’ve tried engaging and disengaging the child lock numerous times. The door can only be open from the outside. Has anyone had this problem? How do I fix this problem?

I have same issue. Dealing with service center has been like walking in a maze-constant dead ends. 5 phone calls and still no service date.

Yes I have engaged and disengaged the child lock on that door several times. Still can’t open from the inside. The other doors all operate correctly.

Yes numerous times
I took delivery of my R1S on 6/30/2023. Today was the first day someone has road in the back seat and sure enough, the back passenger side door would not open from the inside. Found this thread and read the manual at link supplied by oldsmobile_Mike and sure enough, the child lock was engaged. You need to turn it counterclockwise to disable the child lock. I am not sure why you reference double pulling the handle. I removed the rubber plug with my fingers then used a flathead screwdriver to turn the child lock engagement counterclockwise. Tested and works fine now. Hopefully you have resolved your issue, but give this a try if not.

However, the manual says to turn it clockwise for passenger side door which is incorrect. You need to turn it counterclockwise. i am not sure why you reference double pulling the handle. Pulling the handle twice will open a locked door from the inside(with child lock off)

I received my R1S yesterday and have the exact same issue. Rear passenger door won’t open from the inside even though child lock is not on. I have used a screwdriver in the child lock and turned it “off and on” multiple times. It does not change anything. Does anyone know who to contact? This is the only door my children can use to exit the vehicle due to the tight parking spot in our garage and needing to be on the left side of our garage to reach the EV charger we installed. This is SUPER inconvenient and I don’t know how this is not tested before sending these vehicles on the road?!

You can submit a service ticket in the Rivian App. It sounds like something mobile service should be able to fix. Good luck!

Anyone found a fix for this?
Besides having to wait 4 months for mobile Rivian service?
Just picked up my R1T on Saturday and dealing with the same issue. Driver side back door opens no problem from the outside but cannot be opened from the inside. Safety lock is of and have already tried switching it on and off a few times.

I ended up having to take mine into the service center to have the issue resolved. ?. It was a quick fix once I was there (20 min) but I did have to wait a week or so to get into the service center. Again, completely unacceptable that these vehicles are being sent off the parking lots without all doors being tested from the inside and out.

Ouch. Thanks for the response and sharing.
My appointment is scheduled for January 25th so I guess I wont be using that door anytime soon.
Totally agree, testing all doors should be standard procedure.
