Which reminds me, as a lifelong Colorado jeeper (first car: 1931 M38 A1 w/Chev 283) now enjoying serious 4-wheeling with my R1S, I'm wondering if there's any interest in small-group outings. I'd be especially interested in multi-day trips into the San Juan Mountains, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride.

San Juans are well worth the trip and you definitely need a few days down there to really appreciate it! There's a decent charger in Ouray and we also have access to the Tesla station in Telluride now which is great since the only CCS charger there was a slow AF Tritium unit that was also like $0.75/kWh or something stupid. I'd love to help organize a trip at some point, but with the size of these trucks, I'd recommend no more than probably 5 in a group.

Colorado gang:
Have any of you driven your R1 (gen1) from Nathrop, over Tincup Pass, and down to Mirror Lake?
I'm looking at this adventure for this summer.
Is this a suitable run for an off-road complete novice?
As an alternative, I'm looking at coming into the Mirror Lake campground from the Crested Butte side, and crossing the Continental Divide at Monarch Pass, not the gravel, single track road at Tincup Pass.
Thanks.
I don't think its a good idea for a novice, solo. Get a buddy or a group together. An alternative to Monarch would be Old Monarch or Marshall, those would be trivial. Lujan is south of Marshall & would be more rocky than those 2, but much easier than Tincup.

Hi Denver area Rivian owners, I'm still getting used to the length and turning radius of my R1T and got a minor booboo dent in my gear tunnel when parking the other night. Any suggestions for a good body shop in the Denver area that could fix this up? Would love to avoid having to get a new panel. Thanks in advance.

I had great results with paintless dent repair after being pummeled by hail in Kansas. The company I used is in Colorado Springs, but you should be able to find a good company in Denver.
Just from your photos, I think you would be an excellent candidate for a PDR.

I was curious how many here have had the 'replace 12v battery' warning, and how much you were able to drive until you did.

This popped up for me Friday. I called and have a mobile appointment, but not until late March. They told me I could continue to drive, but to try and plug it in when not in use. I go up to the mountains every couple of weeks - I wonder if that's too much of a risk with this ? Looking for any experience folks here have with this. I'm in one of the last CY QM gen 1 R1S, manufactured summer of 2023.

thanks

My 1/23 R1S G1QM has 30k miles and I haven’t seen this pop up yet. How many miles u got now? The older I get, the more I have to plug in every night.

I've got 30,000 miles on a Sep 2023 R1S.
I just had it in the Colorado Springs service center 4 days ago for the hub bolt tightening. I'm kicking myself for not asking them to do a 12V battery health check.
As to your question @runningdenver , I haven't seen the warning yet, but there are a number of forum posts from others who have. Too many have experienced 12V battery failure and required a tow with either no warning in the truck, or within a day or two of getting the warning. You probably shouldn't wait too long.

Hello, glad to come across a CO forum! Looking for some help on deciding between standard or large battery (max is not an option). I’m leasing. Large will cost me $230 more each month. May road trip 3x this year at 600-900 miles each way but can take our ICE Telluride. Otherwise, I drive about 20 miles/day with a twice a month trip to Steamboat (from front range- about 150 miles one way for me) in the summer (warm weather). I may go to steamboat 2-3 times in the Winter. Not sure if I’d need to stop in Silverthorne or Kremmling in the winter. Anyone have experience driving from the front range to Steamboat in the winter? Will the LFP standard 270 mile range battery get me there without charging? I will have the black sport wheels.tires and put snow tires on in the winter. Thanks for your help.

I was really hoping to not need a dedicated set of rims and snow tires just because of having to store 4 huge wheels in my garage. But, the lack of grip I experienced in the last 2 snow storms, combined with the very unsettling feeling of losing control of 7500 pounds of vehicle, led me to change my mind.
I have the original 20" Pirelli ATs which are 3MPSF rated, but after 30k miles I'm down to 6/32 tread. Even new, felt they were a little dicey going over Monarch pass in a snow storm. Plus, this amount of mass leads to a lot of momentum which added to my unease when trying to stop.
Anyway, I went with Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 tires and TPMS from Discount Tire. DT has a 48 mm offset wheel "coming soon" but nothing in stock, so the wheels came from Tire Rack.
Some shopping tips:
- Tire Rack website clearly states the OEM lug nuts work on the new wheels. Not true. Fortunately, Discount Tire knew this, and had the correct, thinner lug nuts in stock. The OEM nuts will strip the bolts before getting to proper torque
- For those that this applies to, I could have saved some money ordering the TR wheels through DT (DT now owns TR). DT offers a military discount, Tire Rack does not even though they are part of the same company. Found this out after the fact.

I'm curious what that set you back 'doing it yourself' ? I got the wheel, nokian package with tpms from EVS at the start of last winter. They make a massive difference, but I'm sure I paid extra for the 'convenience'. From memory it with tax/shipping etc, it was about $4500.

Not sure what your garage set up is like, but I got one of these, and stack the tires in a corner. It works pretty well, and is mobile enough you can push it around if needed.

It was primarily cost. I did look at the EV-S options but could do it through DT at a significantly lower price.
I do love that dolly from Amazon!
