I'm flying into Denver on an upcoming business trip to western Kansas, and if timing permits, I might have a few minutes to drive by the Rivian Center in Denver. Are they allowing visitors/rubberneckers?

Short answer is approximately yes. Rubberneckers allowed outside, but inside.

Slightly longer story: just yesterday I saw my first wild sighting of an R1T, i.e. the truck driven by a person on roads. Fortunately we were at a long red light and the windows were open, so I could chat with the driver. Turns out he is a Rivian employee, and he said that I could stop by the Denver service center to check out the trucks and the different colors in the lot, but would not be allowed inside. (This lines up with what other people on this forum in the Denver area have done already.)

Then the light turned green, and he took off like a bat out hell. Blimey those trucks are fast.

Yup - you can go to the lot and check out all the trucks. They're of course locked, but you can get a good peek inside of them. When I went a couple weeks ago an employee came out and chatted with me for a while

failing the “I have a preorder and am keen” approach, the tried and true hardhat, hi viz vest, clipboard, purposeful facial expression method of universal access will surely be effective

Given numerous creeper visits and slow rolls around the Rivian Denver Service Center, I’m a bit surprised not to have been arrested yet.

Pretty sure all are welcome outside. Recommend stopping by Cohesion Brewery next door.

When I stopped by on Wednesday, there was an employee actually down from the Normal plant who saw me gawking at the Limestone and Red Canyon. Talked to me for a few min and then drove the Limestone over and opened the gate so I could get a better look at it.

Stopped by Rivian in Denver today. Canyon Red! Beautiful! Talked to an employee for a few minutes, really friendly and enthusiastic. No R1S though, he said he has seen them in the factory but none in Denver yet. About 25 vehicles on the lot.

A paving crew is working today to double the size of the lot.

Stopped by the Denver service center this morning. Although I'm waiting on an R1S, I was also on the fence between El Cap Granite and Rivian Blue. Got to see both side by side and I plan on staying with El Cap, but the blue is great looking also.
There were 27 R1Ts being prepped for delivery, and no R1Ss on site.
I also got to see for the first time the full range of 20", 21", and 22" wheels. Can't go wrong with any of them!

Cool, thanks for the update. My optimism for on-time R1S delivery windows is quickly evaporating. Hope I’m wrong.

You didn't happen to notice if any had the Ocean Coast interior, did you? Seems very unlikely from what I read, but no harm in asking. Thanks

I didn't look inside every truck, but none of the ones I did had OC interior.

I should add that what sold me on the El Cap paint was how the tone changed as the sky alternated between heavy clouds and bright sun. The hue changes from from a gray to a gray-blue. Of course, I could have just been delirious from being surrounded by so many Rivians at one time.
The other thing I forgot to mention was that 2 Rivian employees saw me through the window and came out for a friendly chat and answered my questions. They have no information on when the first R1Ss will arrive in Denver, but they are cranking out a lot of R1T deliveries including a handful in my neck of the woods in Colorado Springs.

I had my First Drive this afternoon. First time seeing the truck in person. LG with BM. The Rivian Rep was great and she knew her stuff.

Did a test fit of the truck in my garage, and I'm so relieved its going to fit.

I live downtown in RiNo, so no real opportunity to take anywhere off city streets. Drove up and down I-25. Got to try out Driver+. I took it through the Mousetrap at high speed, and I was blown away by the drive feel. The suspension is incredible. The thing just feels so well built and stuck to the ground through the corner. We only drove in All-purpose mode, so can't wait to try out other modes.

My first experience with one-pedal drive. Took about 2-3 minutes to readjust my brain. It was great, and so much better than the old way. Rarely ever touched the brake through the whole test drive (in Standard regen). I've never owned a car with an auto transmission, so quite the adjustment for me. When I got back in my own manual vehicle, felt like stepping back in time 200 years.

I switched from Ocean Coast to Black Mountain when I got home. BM was much more neutral and less-green than I was expecting. Also willing to switch if that will get me the truck faster after test driving it.

Rep said that conserve mode will switch between front or rear motors depending on speed. At low speeds it will engage the front motors only. Above 55 mph, it will engage the rear motors only. That was the first time I heard that. I told her I was going to be surprised if there was an inch of the car I didn't know. She surprised me!

Edit:
Also 45 minutes went by so fast. I had a friend who was going to join and test drive as well, but he couldn't make it. Would have been very difficult to let him get in the driver seat during my test drive.

Second Edit:
Also tried sitting in the back seat behind my driving position at the end. I'm 6' 2" and had some of the most leg room I can recall in a truck. I'm often riding in a Ford Edge up to the ski hill, and the R1T had noticeably more leg room.
