Comma Ai installing issues

I bought the Comma 3X and Lukas' harness. I'm about to get my harness from Lukas today, but the Comma 3X won't arrive until next week.

If I install the harness first but don't have the Comma 3X plugged in, what's the behaviour of the vehicle? Can I still drive it, and if so, would ACC or Driver+ still work?

Everything will work as normal. When the Comma 3X is plugged in it acts as a "man in the middle" When unplugged the Rivian ADAS will operate as normal.

Anyone have any vehicle alarm issues after installing comma.ai? I have had multiple vehicle alarms go off multiple days in a row after installing the stock comma.ai 4 with the comma harness and the lukas longitudinal adapter. I never once had the alarm trigger before this, so kind of weird...

Can't say that's an issue. My alarm doesn't go off even when it should.

Maybe the alarm is unrelated to the comma.ai, but I keep getting notifications on the phone and that never used to happen. Oh well.

Did you remove the AXM power connection on the Comma harness? Tapping the AXM for power has caused issues in the past. Never alarm related issues, but anything's possible I guess.

The latest Comma 4 harness includes the Comma Power connection to the OBD-2 port for power. This being the case, why would there be any AXM power connection in the Comma harness? Wouldn’t Comma have eliminated the AXM power connection by using the Comma Power? I mean, wouldn’t that be the whole point of the Comma Power? Or, is the need to remove the AXM power connection only applicable to earlier versions of the Comma Harness? I’m still a few weeks away from taking delivery of my Comma 4, so I’m trying to visualize all this, without a Comma in hand. TIA

They've always included the Comma Power as an optional power source. The AXM power connection is still present on the harness and should be removed as best practice to reduce the chance that could cause any issues down the line.

Think of the Comma Power as a supplemental power source, not a replacement.

Has your alarm still been randomly getting triggered? I also recently installed the Comma 4 with long upgrade and getting the same random alarm triggers. I just get a phone notification but truck alarm doesn’t go off.

I have, but that's just a general problem with Rivians.
