Kyle's truck had been having intermittent issues that would not allow it to shift into gear. Will be interesting to hear more detail in the video.

Haven't heard of anyone else with these issues, so I'd be surprised if it was truly Comma

There are enough gen1 R1’s out there with comma that I doubt that is the case. Sounds more like a case of not finding the actual cause of what was presenting as a motor issue and blaming the easiest thing that is outside the warranty coverage.

That's kinda what I'm thinking too, but if they took the Comma off and it fixes it....

But …. I see he got his truck into service. Whereas others were refused to even have truck serviced with the comma attached.

Way to have separate service protocols for influencers.

And yes, it less about different service for influencers; and all about inconsistent service across service centers. See sliders needing to be removed vs not being removed.

I've been running the Comma for several months, with no issues. Watch the install video when Out Of Spec installed the Comma, it appeared to be a 1/2 ass job, in my opinion, while watching it. I kept thinking Kyle really trusts these guys—my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure his is a Gen 2. And I'm kind of upset I know that.

Edit:
It's a Gen 1. Thankfully I don't pay that much attention.

Perhaps I'm confused: I thought that Comma.ai for Rivian only worked with Gen 1, and that Kyle installed it on his Gen 1 R1T that he has had for many years now... He also "owns?" one or more other Rivian's, which may be Gen 2...

No you're right, it's in his Gen 1. There are 2 others, both Gen 2, in their testing fleet right now. But this is the Gen 1.

Ya, I remember them mis-stating multiple things and then correcting them later on. Like they hadn't taken the time to read through and understand instructions well before starting and were kind of winging it.

Maybe that is the issue, does make me a bit nervous to install my own (but also we're in the middle of a big house remodel so I shouldnt be spending a grand on this right now anyway).

Its very straight forward. I would recommend the fuse tap for power.

they don't work on Gen 2. His is a 2022 LE
Yeah yeah it's another Gen 1. I was thinking it was this one: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...ctory-delivery-of-cheapest-r1s-on-sale.49233/

Thank goodness I was wrong. I was worried I knew as much as I thought I did about their "work vehicle" tax write off collection.
