Confirm your configuration before test drive?

Was assuming the guide (who had not been assigned) would reach out to me before it was time to buy with local test drive option. I just received the "confirm your configuration" email. Per the email from May '22, once the "guide" reaches out to me to confirm the config (was an email with no guide assigned in my case), I have 72 hours to confirm or lose my slot.

I'm pretty sure I'm ready to buy without a test drive, but it'd be nice to be sure. And to help convince my wife that this is a good choice

Are most other people these days asked to lock in the config without having seen/touched/driven one in person?

To be fair: I had the luxury of a test drive a few weeks before I got the invite to confirm, so it’s unfair of me to tell you to buy without drive 1st, but…… ?

I never test drove one prior to confirming my configuration and purchasing. I hadn’t even been within forty feet of one or seen LA Silver in person.

I hadn't driven, or even seen, one prior to confirming mine. At delivery I wasn't disappointed

I just had a test drive 2 weeks ago and I live about 10 miles from you. My drive guide told me the test drive schedule is pretty open now. She even said they are almost at the point where non-reservation holders can set up drives. I would give them a call and see if you can set one up if it makes you feel better.

No exact data, but reading posts here and Reddit, It appears to me that the majority of purchasers were never were offered a test drive.

I have not test drove many of my vehicle purchases. When you buy certain types of vehicles, the types which aren't typically in anybodies inventory (these days what is...) it would be tough to get a test drive.

I certainly wasn't disappointed in the R1T.

Delivery day was my test drive! You have no worries, and I think 7days to return it if unsatisfied...

Also since your in CO, I'm sure you can find a local owner willing to give you some seat time or a ride along.

No test drive for me either. I was able to check them out prior to delivery at the service center and the rivian team was awesome. After delivery my wife stole my truck!

Due to this truck being as in demand as it is, if you take delivery and absolutely hate it for whatever reason you can always sell it and make 20K easily, more if you try. I wouldn't recommend buying a vehicle you've never driven, but this is one of those few instances where you have nothing to lose.

I did confirm my config before touching/driving one, but took a different route to get in the seat. I live too far away from an SC to get the test drive but looked up one for sale at a local dealership and got to see/drive it that way. I'm sure there are plenty in the Boulder area that are for sale...
