Has anyone had the “creaking” noise when the R1S Unlocks? It is the opening and closing of the grill vents.
The service tech suggested WD-40 every couple months. Easy Peasy…

I had this noise on my R1T when I got it. Service sprayed something on the grill vents like you said. Did they tell you they used WD40? WD40 can damage certain plastics so I'm a bit surprised if that's what they use.

Regular WD-40 is not a lubricant. That said, they do make a PTFE dry lube.

WD-40 is actually a solvent. Maybe try something like Gibbs Brand penetrating lubricant.

I'd probably do a dry PTFE but I haven't bothered since the creaking doesn't bother me.

There is a service bulletin to replace all the door handles. They are replacing mine right now.

Yes, I have the Vampire Coffin opening sound on my R1S's front air vents. It's in for service right now and I'll have them lube it. I'll ask them what the recommended lubricant and location to spray. I just hope it isn't garlic based!!!

Can you please send photos of where to add lubricant?

Truth be told; I said “should I just hit it with something like WD-40?” And he said “that’s what I’d use!”

it is very easy to locate the 8 spots (4 per side) where the vents are hinged.
He said you may have to do it every few months. I got my R1S in June and have $5k miles.
