This happens primarily at low speed and certainly was not always this way but is this fixable? Should I make a service appointment? I feel like something has rattled loose and it’s just annoying to drive with!!

Not normal but common. Some have reported that service was able to fix it.

The center of ours was loose and you could see it bouncing a bit while driving. From past experiences with cars (Tesla), a loose panel usually means it became unclipped. I tapped it with my hand and heard it snap back into place and the issue was fixed.

This may be different though..

The wife's S does this. I tried the slapping it to click back in thing and it didn't work. I ended up sticking small pieces of rubber pad between the grille and the dash along the window. This keeps it from bouncing and rattling. Service appt in Nov to fix.

My R1S with 1,200 miles has it as well. Super annoying and no service apts until end of October.

I believe they used some sort of double sided tape to correct this in my T. Things were quiet briefly but the heat in Phoenix undid the fix so it is back on my list for re-repair. Hopefully Rivian has a more robust solution they can apply next time.

get something to wedge under the grille lip and the dash along the window. i used really thin rubber rolled up like you do when making tape rings to put up a piece of paper on fridge or wall or bulletin board.

its working great.

I took my R1T a couple days ago for something else (the steering wheel wasn't centered). They "fixed" the rattle of the tin piece on top of the dashboard. At least I haven't noticed it since. The rattle was intermittent. I think there was a service bulletin about it. It would probably be fixed under warranty. I'm quite pleased with the work they did. The problems I had were fixed. My first and only (so far) service visit went very well.

First Denver service appointment was end of Sept/early October which is the first time I have seen it that far out, typically they get me in within a few weeks. That said, I feel silly tying up a service appointment for this silly fix. Is this something I should fix on my own without having to remove the grille on the dash? Seems like it's more at the front between the grille and the windshield? I thought it was more inside and under the grille.

Service Appt Fix > Temp Fix.

Temp fix is good for your sanity while you wait for service appt.

I just chatted with Rivian service and they advised me to have the service center do it rather than trying to fix it myself. Seems like such a minor fix and I hate tying up a service appointment (especially 6 weeks away in October!) for this silly fix, but if thats what they want me to do I'll do it!
