I just used a DCFC for the first time. It was just a quick 19 minute charge to add a little more range right before we got to our destination. Started at around a 30% SOC. The truck was set to precondition. It added 38kWh over the 19 minutes. I saw it often charge above 200 kWh on a EA changer. However 2 or 3 times durning charging I saw a message pop up saying “DC fast charging performance reduced Service needed.” It would pop up then disappear a few seconds later. Durning this time the charge rate would drop down. Has anyone seen this and know whats up? Does it really need service?

The only " person " that will know if you require service is Rivian.

EA charging above 200kW has been known to cause problems with Rivian’s (and some other EVs) in the past. Hard to pin down since EA uses like 5 different manufacturers for their DCFC stations. Nonetheless, the theory is that these stations are giving more power to the battery than the car is asking for, and this causes errors that you see.

I have had this same message for over 6 months. I’ve had a call with Rivian who had me reset the software and it went away. It did come back after that and after the last software update it disappeared and hasn’t been back…..UNTIL yesterday!
I even had a service appointment for the recall and mentioned it to them. They “ran” the codes and nothing came up.
I have no clue why it keeps coming up but it also appears to happen when it rains??
