If it doesn’t work out just ping me and I will send you a return label. Notice that shipping is non refundable though.
That's super generous of you, and I'll gladly pay the shipping to/from for the experiment.

Heading to place an order now.

The Tuxmat description says it's a vinyl outer layer, so I'd guess it would stick pretty well, assuming it's cleaned well. That said, since the Tuxmat covers the dead pedal area completely, I would try just putting a piece of wood down under the mat to raise it a bit. I just don't know if it the Tuxmat would not sit flat or if it would eventually settle. Nice mats for those conditions...
I had some initial fitment issues, but the Tuxmats are super high coverage. Worked great for getting into/out of the truck in the salty/slushy/muddy conditions up here. Especially considering I have 13 and 7yr old boys that give ZERO craps about the interior no matter how many times I fuss at them.

Putting a block UNDER the mats would definitely cause an issue. These things are stiff enough that it would pull the mat up and into the path of the brake pedal. Might not be a constant issue, but an Estop condition it could deffinitly cause problems.

I'm gonna order the TWraps unit and see how it works out. Have some thoughts of putting magnets on the VHB and magnets on the dead pedal under the mat, then I can swap between summer/winter mats and not have an issue. We'll see how motivated I get once it gets here.

Yesterday on a long drive I tried to pay attention. I mostly have my left leg crossed under the other, but move around. I wonder if the dead pedal is, well, dead to me, because it doesn't fit me? Or I don't notice that because I don't care?

Wow I didn't realize all Rivians don't have the metal finished pedals.

Interested to hear how your experiment works out. I have mats that cover the dead pedal as well, and given their uneven texture I don’t feel totally confident trying to tape something to them, but the magnets idea might hold up. Share back after you test it out if you can. Good luck!

@personify I'm only like 2.5mo behind when I said I was going to order these.

@twraps Just clicked buy. I'll be sure to report back on how they fit OVER the Tuxmats.

@twraps

Dead Pedal came in yesterday. Box was in really rough shape, but the part was intact without damage. Not your fault, just some feedback for your UPS rep.

Threw the device in the truck this morning. Didn't even clean the TuxMats that I have in place. Just peeled and stuck the thing down and drove to work.

Initial thoughts.....It's a nice increase in comfort. The height change is awesome and I can sit comfortably with both legs "forward". Been having some knee and ankle pain recently, and I think some of that is from sitting with my left leg "up and on it's side" when driving. Hoping this helps.

Little bummed it covers the nice logo on the mats, but that's a tiny squabble not worth changing anything over.

The "outer" VHB doesn't stick at all. You can see a "seam" or "fold" in the mat along that side, that crease is right where the sticky tape wanted to be, so it just didn't hold. That's fine. The VHB appears to be sticking to the mat (that I didn't clean or prep even a tiny bit, like ZERO prep), and held the piece in place through some spirited on/off ramps this morning. Of course I had my foot on it at the time as well, so there's that.

I'll keep it on, and let you know if/when the tape fails. I suspect it will considering the wet/harsh winters we see in Buffalo, as well as my lack of prep on the surface. We'll see.

Overall......Great product and great solution for something Rivian should have addressed in the design phase.

You stuck it on dirty fabric, using tape meant for solid surfaces, and then note that it...didn't stick? Is that right?

Wanted to follow up on this. tagging in @twraps as well.

I ran the TuxMats all winter long here in Buffalo. We get a TON of winter "crap" in the truck. Just took them out this past weekend to clean the truck for spring. I had the dead pedal extender "stuck" to the mats the whole winter. Only one side of the VHB held (passenger side) to the mat, the other side was "tacky" but never really held. With that said, it never moved all winter. This was even with having enough salt in the truck that it actually crystalized on/around the extender back into a powdery form. When I pulled the mats out to clean them, I had to put quite a bit of effort to separate the extender from the mat, and the VHB tape stuck to the extender and NOT to the mat. So, that's a good thing.

I'll be cleaning out the mats in the coming days to prep foran offroad trip this weekend, and I've gotten some new VHB from the hardware store to stick it back down.

I'm on day 3 without the extender in the truck, and it sucks. My legs are even length and I have no idea why Rivian didn't make it this height to begin with. Thanks @twraps for making this, really helps on long commutes and road trips!

@twraps have another update for you.

I cleaned up and re-installed my dead pedal last week in preparation for a 1,200mi road trip over Memorial Day Weekend. I still contend this is one of the best comfort mods I've ever done to a vehicle.

Here's an image of the piece after surviving a Buffalo winter. It's pretty torn up, and this was after scrubbing it with a medium bristle brush and some Dawn dish soap in the sink (much to my wifes complaints of "You know we prep food there right?)

This one shows the scuffing/discoloration after the winter of salt/sand/mud combined with the bottom of my boots sitting on it.

The VHB tape was pretty sticky, and as I yoinked it off the floormat, it escaped my grip and flew across the garage, bounced off the wall, and hit the floor. Slight damage from my carelessness, but honestly not as bad as I expected considering it's a 3D printed part. Small crack and some deformation on the corner. Can't see it once installed and has zero functional impact.

To be clear though, it largely still looks like it's supposed to be there. My truck gets some abuse, i drive a lot and have wet/muddy/dirty feet on a regular basis. Also wear soccer cleats to drive more often than I care to admit, as well as muddy mountain bike shoes. The unit is holding up to the abuse just fine. Haven't had anyone "notice" it yet, and my dad drove the truck for the first time ever on Sunday and even made the comment "It's nice to have a good dead pedal isn't it?", so I would take that as a compliment on a job well done!
