Delivery Day will likely start with an impossible to wipe off shit eating grin, followed by rounding up my buddies for an off road rip into the back country either on Vancouver Island or Whistler area.

This will be my first EV experience, so I'm excited to take it all in and also just look over every detail on the vehicle

Depending on day of the week, my first trip will probably be to work.

Tahuya! If it can't survive the crawls and ponds there, it's going back in the first 7 days.
My wife is scared of the $5k Disco going through there, can't wait for her to be in the $80k Rivian trying it...

I hope there is a factory pick up option, then the first adventure would be IL to TX.

But now that we did a trip like that I think Assuming if we get by Middle September my first destination will be from Washington DC to White Sand Dunes National Park in New Mexico.
Be sure to keep me posted, I might be game to join you. Maybe stop through Big Bend on the way!

Delivery in the Fall: go to a Ohio State football game and tailgate with my spare tire compartment full of ice and beer. Better yet, maybe use the frunck to fit more beer and ice!!
A man after my own heart. There will definitely be a tailgating trip to see some Aggie football on my Rivian list this fall.

We’ll probably go to the desert. Palm Springs if it’s cold or the high desert if it’s hot. In the unlikely event there was recent rain then maybe the Cleveland National Forest for a hike to Tenaja Falls.

I plan on going to a local drag night to show some muscle cars and imports that they are slow. While its new a lot of people wont know how fast it is. Sand dunes and Moab will also be on the list.

Probably to In-n-Out Burger.
Should you get mobbed as you come out of the drive-thru with your food, you could always park right in front and re-heat all with your Camp Stove. That'll draw an even bigger crowd! ??

I want to recreate the three loops travelled in that first video I ever saw from Rivian (map shown on the nav screen in the last few seconds of this short clip - couldn't find the full original video).

I'll start in downtown Portland and drive out the Sunset Highway (U.S. 26) to the Oregon coast and up across the four-mile wide crossing of the Columbia River into S.W. Washington on U.S. 101. Soon thereafter, I'll go from Portland around Mount Hood (as also seen in the original full-length video) and come back home through the Columbia River Gorge.

The stretch of beach they showed in that initial view with the rooftop tent was just south of Cape Lookout on the Oregon coast. That'll be next in line for a mid-week getaway. It was those early images from around here that sparked my interest immediately.

Apologies if this thread has been done already...I'll gladly take it down, but I could not find one...

-------

Let's take a breath and live in a magical future-state where all of this anxiety, confusion, and unknown is behind us (and we're hopefully all laughing really hard becuase it was indeed much-ado-about-nothing...)

So assuming everything goes well with all the things and you're picking up your Rivian of choice...probably going to feel like we just won the Superbowl and those in Driving distance could go to Disneyland...or those wanting to test out a Road Trip immediately...

So...yeah...there it is...where are you going first?

For us...

Guessing we'll have the dogs with us and go for a drive to Mount Rainier or something and back. It'll be Spring Time-ish 2022...so...there are fewer options than the warmer months. Maybe Leavenworth?

?
Thanks for this thread starter we clearly needed this. Also I got married in Leavenworth in 2016 it's a perfect habitat for R1's to roam.
As For Me I'd love to be able to drive it home to upstate NY from the Factory but if not depending on a late fall delivery I'll probably take my R1T tailgating at a Buffalo Bills game.

For me it’s going to be a trip to Ohio State University which is 200 miles from my house. Depending when I get my LE R1T here are the basic plans:
  • Delivery by mid-Aug: take my daughter back to school.
  • Delivery in the Fall: go to a Ohio State football game and tailgate with my spare tire compartment full of ice and beer. Better yet, maybe use the frunck to fit more beer and ice!!
  • Delivery by mid-Dec: pick up my daughter for the holidays.
All well and good and I wish you safe travels...but don't you mean THEE Ohio State University! ;)

Let the tailgates commence!!! :)
