Did Facebook kill the car forum? Hah, No!!!

Recent Hagerty article (link below). With my time on / off this forum for the past couple years, I'd say the answer is 'no.' The Rivian Facebook groups are a general shitshow. They are repositories of "A hundred trolls and 33 stupid questions a day." The "Rivian Owners North America" group is particularly annoying where the Admin spends 80% of their time arguing with members...evidently that's their primary admin mandate. Hah! Other groups like "Rivian Electric Vehicles Discussion" aren't much better...but they are public groups and many people (like me) are hesitant to participate in public groups. Sometimes I get my gander up on this forum when Admin changes a post title but they do a good job actually. There are trolls here too, like anywhere, but it's generally a good community with a decent amount of technical content to draw upon. Clearly some forums are gone or in decline, but the ones that survive are actually thriving via good admin'ng and still offer much better experience, content and discussions than Facebook. Anyways...

The amount of ignorance regarding EVs in general is particularly annoying. The fact that folks just listen and repeat everything they hear through the mainstream media without any fact checking whatsoever gives me great concern for the future of humanity. ??‍

I left Facebook in 2017. Which has been a cesspool for quite some time…. gotta stay ahead of all the bots and fake accounts. Been very happy with my decision since then… dont see most of all that nonsense anymore.

There will always be REAL people posting on forums sharing their glass half empty views, but that doesnt mean we have to take it as “gold”. It’s just another data point to take in, and it’s up to each of us to make our own conclusions.

I am active on two forums, this Rivian forum and a twenty year old Airstream forum. Both are excellent and keep the wack jobs away.

I do visit the Facebook forums occasionally to see what's going on. They are packed with useless information posted by idiots. I find that Facebook as a whole is loaded with crap.

Fixed it for you, not just EV's, everyone parrots everything written and read on the internet. The world has become a cultural space of anything you say enough becomes fact.
