Thinking about getting it to track vampire drain etc but will it make that drain substantially worse?

My understanding is that it only accesses the backend Rivian API and does not cause any direct communication with the vehicle itself. Your vehicle already reports status and diagnostics back to the Rivian backend on a regular basis, even when asleep. Ironically, this communication accounts for vampire drain whether you utilize that data for anything or not.

TL;DR: no, electrafi does not contribute to any vehicle battery drain

I don't think so, but I signed up the same day I took delivery. Phantom drain is 1-2 kwh/day.

This is also my understanding on how it works. Electrifi is not polling the vehicle directly and is getting its data from the Rivian backend servers.

From Electrifi’s site, I’d does appear to access the vehicle directly and can keep the vehicle awake. The Electrifi knowledgebase has some docs on this. I noticed at work today my R1T wasn’t sleeping and showed in idle status for several hours. I changed some of the sleep settings in Electrifi‘s location setting and got the truck to sleep.

I’d recommend looking at the docs on this at https://support.teslafi.com/knowledge-bases/2-knowledge-base/categories/7-sleeping/articles

I believe that is for the Tesla version of their service. I can confirm that my R1S remains asleep while using Electrafi.

That could be the case. I'll have to test this some more when I'm not at home and charging. I've only been a user of the service for a few weeks and am still learning all its nuances. I like Electrafi's data, but not enough to sacrifice any range.
