I received a call from Rivian Service a week or so ago, about a couple of "recall" issues on my
R1S ( Sept. 23 delivery, s/n xx1800). Anyway, they wanted to schedule me at the Atlanta SC for
this work, and Atlanta is just over a 2-hour drive for me. I asked if I could be scheduled at the
new Duncan SC, and he checked and said yes I could.

So I went to the Duncan SC yesterday. Arrived on time, there was one other Rivian owner there,
getting his 7500 service work done. We spoke for a bit, and then he left when his service was
done. The tech then took my R1S in, re-torqued some motor mount bolts, and pro-actively
replaced my 12-volt battery. I was done in an hour, and on my way back home.

For those unfamiliar with South Carolina, Duncan is a small town on I-85, between Greenville
and Spartanburg.

I say all of this, because I know a lot of you are experiencing long wait times for service appointments.
If you are within driving distance of the upstate of South Carolina, you might want to reach out
and see if you can get serviced at the Duncan SC.

That is amazing news. I'm like half an hour to the ATL service center but will gladly drive to Duncan to avoid having my car sit in a lot for days on end.

I had similar experience earlier in the week. Brought in the 2024 R1T for service to Duncan and arrived at 11:00am. They originally had a loaner for me, but the service manager said they wanted a tech to ride with me to see what the suspension issue may be. We went for very short ride, and he said he was pretty sure what it was and that he could fix it, plus the headlight alignment before i could make it back to Charlotte (2 hours) in any loaner and asked if i wanted to wait. Work remotely anyway, so sat in the service center lobby and worked while they completed the work and did a tire rotation too. Was back on the road by 2:00pm. Hell of a lot better than 4-5hr drive to Atlanta each way that I'd had to do several times before. Will see these guys again in a few weeks with the 2022 launch edition (HVAC musty smell and pedal clicking issue) and see how that goes. Really looking forward to Charlotte center opening this year, and it will be 20 minutes away! Yay! For now, giving thanks to the Rivian Duncan facility. Lead tech was on loan from Shepherdsville, KY center and knows his stuff. Doug was his name! Thanks again for the quick turnaround!

EXCELLENT News, and thanks for the update. From Charleston I was keeping fingers crossed for Charlotte location, but this is even better. And if you had to lodge an overnight in Greenville - well that's not the worse thing. Thanks for sharing

Right on! I'm in Clemson, and I've made that 2 hour drive a few times. This is awesome!

Recently had an issue with my AC system not blowing cold air and was scheduled for Atlanta ~3weeks out. After a week or so I was surprised to see an email saying my appointment was rescheduled for Duncan, which being in Charleston definitely saves me a few hours round trip each way. While I was there I was asking how they got around the franchise laws in SC and they said apparently they just kinda did it. And since they are strictly service only not sales they are arguing they aren’t violating any franchise laws. They also said *allegedly* they have secured a location for Charleston! I’ll keep my skepticism and believe it when I see it but that would be great if so
