Relatively small sample size for me, but I've never had a significant problem at any of the EA sites I've visited in Montana, Washington, Idaho, or California (never used one in Oregon)

I've done over (16,000)kWhs at EA and majority of time, it's been smooth and error free (95%). Outside of the cities, EA has been flawless. Inside major metro centers, it is very hit and miss. Of late, it's not a EA issue, but one where all spots are taken up by slow a.. Bolts and charging to 100%.

No major issues with EA for me, though I've only used them half a dozen times so far. The NFC reader wouldn't work at the station in Bedford, PA, and one of the stations in Dubois, PA wouldn't recognize that it was plugged in. Was able to work around both of these without too much of a problem. Charging speeds have been fine.

When I finally get a NACS adapter I don't think I'll be a "never again" person as having some EA stations available work out better than superchargers or RAN due to location and availability, but their current performance is also not prompting me to order a NACS adapter today either.

Sounds great. I hope Walmart does this and it turns out good.
Walmart EV chargers
Lots of legitimate reasons for some people to avoid WM.

But in the near term more working chargers seem to be a good thing.

This video discusses a Ft Worth Star Telegram article regarding WM plans to move forward with the roll-out of chargers past the couple of "proof of concept" locations in Northwest Arkansas and Texas.

WM is apparently moving forward with the next phase their plans to install DC fast charges at 5000 or so locations by 2030.

The video and article note fifteen new locations (maps shown and locations listed) in the DFW area to be complete by "spring". It looks like they settled on a pull through design with chargers facing alternating sides to that what side your vehicles port is on does not matter.

Hopefully the density of chargers and their prices they will charge does not dis-incentivize other providers.

Thanks for sharing. I agree there might be reasons for avoiding WM. I've had some "interesting" experiences at WM but nothing compared to some of my travel experiences. I'm a big Sam Walton fan so anything WM does to improve themselves and the state of chargers is great in my book. I wish there was a way to take advantage of the solar potential most Walmarts have. I do like the idea that most WMs are within 10miles of customers. Cheers.

EA doesn't charge your card, it charges your EA account, which refills at $20 increments.
You can set the amount on EA, I have my reload set to $60

Update at the half way point on my trip.

3600 miles, there were 25 stops for charging. Interesting that the only failed charge was at a Tesla Magic Dock in Foxborough, MA. I tried my A2Z adapter as well as the Magic Dock on 2 different chargers and all it was doing is saying starting to charge but never started. There was an EA 3 miles away I used instead.

The breakdown on sessions was.

15 Electrify America
6 RAN
2 Tesla with A2Z adapter (not counting the failed station)
1 ENELX
1 ChargePoint.

The ChargePoint was the only 50KW charger everything else was at least 150 kWh, if the EA stations had a 350, I used that, they always started over 200 kWh. I did see a couple of units at EA that said unavailable but not many and never more than one at a location. Most locations all stations looked available, I did not test them as the one I plugged into always worked.

East of Nevada most of the places I stopped I was the only one charging the entire time I was at the location. The RAN in Barstow, CA was the only RAN location were there was another vehicle at. I think Rivian missed out on marketing, most of the RAN locations were hidden in the back of parking lots, not as visible as most Tesla sites you see.

One EA location I did have a 3 minute wait for a charger in Beaver Utah, there were 4 stations, one was not working and 3 people charging when I pulled in.
