Hi Joshua,

Thank you for being part of the Electrify America family and supporting the e-mobility movement. It's electric vehicle (EV) owners like you that make our electric journey possible.

Electrify America is reaching out to make you aware of pricing changes to your account that will soon be taking place.

Beginning August 17, 2023, we’ll shift from uniform energy or time based pricing nationwide to a station-specific pricing model and resume charging for idle fees at most nationwide charging stations. The Electrify America mobile app will have pricing information for a given charger, but you should check the pricing of a charging station at the charger when you start charging.
Rivian R1T R1S EA Pass+ and pricing change update 2c5aa174-bd7a-43da-856d-21dcf8f11170
Pass+ customers will continue to save 25% on charging (excluding idle fees), across our stations nationwide. The monthly fee for Pass+ will increase to $7 per month.
The Electrify America Terms of Use are changing to reflect these changes. To view the Electrify America Terms of Use, click here. A number of important changes are as follows:
  • We are clarifying that the pricing for a charge will be the pricing stated on the charger when you start a session. Those prices may include idle fees or other kinds of charges, but you will always be informed at the charger before you charge. The app is informative about pricing, but because prices may change over time, you should always check the price at the charger.
  • As a Pass+ subscriber, you will no longer receive a fixed price, but instead will get a 25% discount on the per-kWh or per-minute price for a given charger that you use. This change will be reflected in the subscription details you view in the app.
  • The new $7 monthly fee will be reflected in the subscription details you view in the app.
  • We are updating the arbitration provisions to clarify the applicable arbitration rules, including a bar on class arbitration.
  • We are updating and expanding the liability limitations.
These changes, including the $7 per month Pass+ subscription charge, will take effect on August 17, 2023. Please review the changes and decide whether you want to continue your subscription. If you do, just keep using the app and our chargers as usual. You will see the new prices when you charge on August 17, 2023. Your plan will continue to automatically renew each month as per the subscription terms, unless and until you cancel. You may cancel your subscription at any time within the Electrify America app.

As always, we are happy to assist if you have any questions. Thank you again for taking this journey with us.

I’m all for charging idle fees, otherwise price increases are not great. I also am not a big fan of not knowing the charge until at the station, we shall see how this is actually implemented.

At$4/mo I could leave the pass going all the time but $7/mo is enough for me to cancel it if we aren't using it. Especially now that there are pretty good RAN choices in my state.

Yeah I was just thinking the same, lately I have been using RAN more than EA. I’ll definitely reevaluate my Pass+ after my summer road trip.

never signed up for the EA pass. I tried out our local EA station once and spent $2. EA stations haven't been useful in the out of town or in town driving I've done in the past year. In town location I think is pretty bad as well.

Have they published state or station specific pricing yet?

Not that I am aware of, I guess we will have to wait a month for that information.

I haven’t used it for awhile and now I think I’m gonna cancel. RAN has me covered for most of my travels and if by chance I need EA I can always subscribe again. This wouldn’t be the case if EA was making some impactful progress on reliability, but they’re not so……….bye.

You can check your Lifetime stats via the EA app. I've only used EA 16x in 10 months for a lifetime savings of $58.37. This doesn't make sense for me to continue at $7/mo.

Another way to analyze: If you're spending less than $28/mo at EA then you're losing money at a $7/mo subscription.

I understand your sentiment but I will disagree they are not making impactful progress on reliability. For example they completely replaced the chargers at Hood River and Bend with the new stations and they have worked perfectly for me. Same was true when I was in Cali and used EA stations in Chico and Yuba City over the 4th.

Their release reads as if they are moving to a dynamic pricing model.

I'm lucky to be near multiple RAN that have me covered for at least one charge on most road trips. I'll definitely cancel my subscription unless big trip has a use for it. Hopefully I get some use out of RAN before Rivian starts charging for it.

Both Chico 350s were down last Friday. Wasn't a big deal since we were the only ones charging and only needed enough charge to get to Shasta RAN.

So you think that EA has not improved reliability over the last year or just pointing out your experience?

I also forgot I also used the chargers in Grants Pass on July 5th and I had to wait but that was due to demand rather than broken chargers. In fact that is the biggest issue I have had with EA over the last 6 months, more people wanting to charge then available chargers. While frustrating that isn’t really EAs fault.

I don’t really want to get into a long discussion about reliability etc of EA but find it hard to say it is not improving over the last year.

Just my experience. But...hearing reports on EA between Seattle and Boise on the ECRC discord has ended any tentative plans to see family in Boise this summer. Chargers down, derated, and too many EVs + waiting or finding alternatives. We did this same route over Thanksgiving and had no issues.
We also did a quick 10 minute charge in South Lake Tahoe with no issues and all were occupied, including us, and seemed to be operating fine. We've been lucky so far with EA.
That being said. I will be rethinking the monthly EA membership and probably only activate when on road trips

Ok side question. What is the issue between Seattle and Boise? I know the station in Huntington is a dog, always has been but Yakima, Hermiston, Island City and Boise seem to be working fine according to Plug Share. Maybe problems in Ellensburg?
