EA Pass+ ?

Question on the Pass+ - can you sign up for just a period of time, or are you in it for a years subscription once you sign up? It would definitely be nice on the 1-3 roadtrips I take a year, but the rest of the time I never use public chargers, so I'd be wasting $$ every month. I'd need to do the math to see if it may be worth it, but if I can just sign up before a roadtrip and then cancel afterwards that would be the best solution.

When I am taking a trip and I know I am going to save enough to justify the cost I will sign up, then immediately cancel. This effectively gives me 30 days of pass plus pricing.

you sign up for a month at a time so you can cancel after your roadtrip and will be only charged for a month. If you don't cancel it will auto renew monthly. It's really easy to cancel in the app.

Pretty certain the sign up page/screen has writing stating you can cancel at any time.

Yep, it's month to month. I keep EA on the standard option without the monthly fee since I've only used it in my local driving twice since getting my Lightning in December and once when borrowing my friend's R1T. Now if I'm going on a road trip, I'll upgrade to Pass+ since I'll be charging more and the discount will more than cover the fee. Will switch it back a day or two later so I only get billed for that one month and get to keep the Pass+ rates for that whole month.

I really don't like how they operate with keeping money in your account that it refills rather than simply billing for each charge session. It's slimy. Same business model as pre-paid phones and Starbucks cards. Ugh.

Exactly what has been said. We don’t road trip much but had to do a 1700 mile trip last month. We signed up and then cancelled.

I believe EA+ reduces per kW charging from 0.52 to 0.34. One single charging session at a level 3 charger from 20% to 80% nets you 108 kW. That’s $36.72 vs $ 56.16. A savings of almost $20.00. The membership costs $7.00 a month. If you charge at an EA L3 charger once every 80 days, you’re saving money. No-brainer for me.

Bank of Starbucks has 1.6 billion in gift card balances. Although it originally started as a credit card fee issue, your comment is right. At least they give you the bonus of more points for free drinks.

ChargePoint has been doing this for a long time. Its annoying!!!

EA should provide rebates every time you attempt to use a charger that's broken or that can't supply full amperage.

It’s a month to month subscription. Cancel anytime. If you only want 1 month, immediately cancel after you subscribe. It will automatically end after 30 days.

It’s 25% savings from the per kwh price posted on the charger unit.

As frustrating as EA can be, I'm amazed how often I connect and get an unexplained free charge... not sure if this is deliberate business strategy on their part or just more unreliable network.
