Ran into this one today. Hadn't seen it up close and luckily I happened to be driving the right Rivian for a comparison. It's longer than I expected for it's size. I didn't look inside at all. The R1S is in sport-lowest in these photos.

Most interesting thing to me is the handles work exactly like Rivian's.

I wonder if it's using the same wheelbase as the Lyriq. It sure looks like it from your pictures. This will probably end up being what the Honda/Acura rebadges will be in size.

Yes I think this has been confirmed somewhere, maybe by Doug DeMuro in his video. Basically, the Cadillac is an upscaled Equinox

Considering it’s supposed to offer 250-300 miles range for $30-$45k, I think it’s not too bad.

I just can’t get past the UI of GM and Ford cars. They all feel like refreshed “Windows 3.1” style look. And so many buttons…
Oh I agree. It’s bad. No manufacturer has yet to find that sweet spot between too busy and too many buttons and too minimalist and no buttons. Doesn’t seem like it should be that hard LOL

Just me, but I think both Rivian and Tesla style are optimal for me. I’m a big fan of “just show me what I need on the screen” UI.

The Ioniq 5 has a good mix, real buttons for temperature and vent controls.

I would definitely rather have that than too much. I still would like to have maybe 4-6 buttons or toggle switches that can be assigned functions through the UI.

I agree It’s pretty good! My ex drives one (that I convinced her to buy) and I’ve ridden in it quite a bit. She really loves the UI and dash design.

This is the one I'm waiting for to become a 2 EV garage. Just needs to stay under $40k before any tax credits with AWD to justify spending even that much on a grocery hauler for the wife. And I'll end up being jealous of her AA and Sirius XM that I bet it will include.

The Equinox EV is going to be a big seller for GM.
But, and I know this is completely irrational, ever since watching "Who Killed the Electric Car" years ago, and watching GM's endless attempts to scuttle vehicle efficiency standards, I could never consider buying a GM product, no matter how good.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion, and I respect everyone's right to buy the vehicle that is the best fit for them. For me, it's an R1S.

Isn't the new Blazer EV and the Lyriq on the same platform? I thought the Equinox was a smaller cross-over.

Edit: Found another article. Sounds like all three are on the GM BEV3 platform.

+1. Just like I can ever buy a Toyota again. The more EVs the better but there are some companies that had to be dragged into EVs kicking and screaming.

To each his own. Having owned a lot of cars, I think the "minimal", no-button thing is just cheap. It saves Rivian/Tesla money on parts while it requires me to go through a ridiculous series of screen clicks to do something as simple as adjusting the mirrors or steering wheel. "Fixing" problems nobody is having with a regular button.

There's absolutely a place for touchscreens with OTA updates to give you new features, but this absolute fear-of-buttons thing that Rivan/Tesla (oh, except for buttons instead of handles to open the door for no good reason) have going on makes no sense in the real world of driving.
