If you don't like having the body open in front of and behind the sliders, you'll need to cut the panels and re-install them before installing the sliders. I wish I had known this before installing one side, but I did this for the other side.

This is just like...my opinion.

But I didn't bother--I just removed the panels.

All those panels are really doing is collecting dirt. I do not believe they offer any real advantage whatsoever, unless you really care about the underside aesthetics of your vehicle.

I, for one, don't intend to roll mine over anytime soon, so no one will ever see it :D

I agree, those panels are not needed when the rock slider frame is installed.

In a separate thread @EV Sportline indicated the cut panels could be added AFTER the sliders were installed. I'm guessing from your post there's a reason you don't think that's possible. I've installed my sliders (sans panels) and haven't looked further into it. Can you explain why you don't think post-slider install is possible?

Also, thanks for those photos. It hadn't occurred to me that I could cut the panels on my band saw :)

I cut the front straight and left one clip. It fits okay.

Rivian R1T R1S EVSportline Sliders - Cutting the panels IMG_1749

These look good and probably protect better than the ones without the flat bottom.

But I see what you mean. Mud will happen (not mine).

I did similar mods on mine but left more panel to tuck under skid plates.

This has to be done before step brackets go on because the remaining outside strip of the three trim panels snaps back into the original clip rails. This supports the lower edge of the door seal/trim and is impossible once the steps are on.
