When playing music on Spotify I notice that the volume difference from 1 to 3 is exponentially loud. As in, there is no low volume setting, just quiet and then freaking loud. I've noticed this in other Gen 1 R1S and R1T. Is this common?

In the software update that added Apple Music, I noticed similar for Apple Music. (I don't use Spotify.) 1 was too quiet, 2 was "fine in a loud environment, but a little too loud in a quiet environment," 3 was "too loud."

A later software update did fix it, so now 7-10 is a "good range." With plenty lower for when you want to be quiet, and plenty above for when you're in a loud environment and want to blast it.

But that update was months ago. Are you on a really old software version?

@16'-Red-Canoe If you’re using dynamic volume for speed-compensating adjustment try turning it off and then see what you think of the volume control. With it on ours goes from too soft to hear at highway speed and then to too-loud for conversation with a passenger as the next step up. With it off I am pretty happy with the ability to get a good volume.

I noticed that too. Had my truck for almost 2 years now it always had this “issue” there is no way to set volume to low level no matter which setting you pick or what source is playing.
I just call it one of the quirks of owning Rivian, and move on.

This doesn't sound right... (Pun intended)

I usually listen to music from either Bluetooth or Spotify at the 12-18 level, and podcasts are generally 15-19. Some are quieter than others. But I've never listened to anything at 3 or below. Phone calls are usually in the 20s.

That’s pretty much been my experience ever since that one software update mentioned above.

I wasn’t talking about setting volume to listen to the music per se.
Sometimes I want something in the background while waiting for someone for example. And volume level 1 is too loud for that.
idk, maybe my hearing is too good lol

Yes, on my Gen 1 this broke last summer. And I say broke because I was listening to it at 6 or 7 as a normal volume, dialed it to 0 to talk to someone, and when turned it back up it was exactly this problem. None of the updates or reboots have resolve it.

It's my biggest complaint about my R1S, so I guess in a twisted way that's good.😑

We have a g1 meridian R1T that has “normal” volume. But our g1 Rivian audio R1S has this exponential volume issue. I believe the Rivian audio g1 is the issue since the major Audio update last fall. This is when it changed.
