Factory Delivery ?

Put your delivery address as the Rivian plant as well as talk to your local sales associate. They are having logistics issues in getting these vehicles delivered timely and would think a plant delivery would help the cause. Keep in mind they will still charge the processing/delivery fee.

Plant delivery would only help logistical issues if they have a full time trained staff to handle customer delivery. And if they don't offer factory delivery unless you manipulate the system, then they don't have people there to do it.

They do have full time delivery people onsite at the factory. They also have a delivery space if you so choose, otherwise you can take delivery at the main entrance drive.

I'm taking delivery in Normal later today. They told me they currently are only doing deliveries at the front entrance. Not at the delivery space.

Kind of a moot point for me now. They told me it is on its way and should be ready for delivery next week. I am planning on a 3 month road trip starting in Oct and will be heading to Chicago to do the entire Rt66. Should be going by Normal then so my R2 can visit its birth place.

My company receives some product via rail car, it is a slow and frustrating process but it's still the most cost effective way to ship product over longer distances. For us it's fairly common to have them take an unexpected detours.

Most companies have a map that has a breakdown on cost of truck vs rail. If it's within a given radius is cheaper to ship by truck.

It would be nice if Rivian had a delivery area at their plant where you can pick up your vehicle even if they limited to a few days a week, throw in a small tour or another perk like what they did in Utah for influencers and it could be very successful. Not only would it save on cost and planning but it could help keep the R2 buzz going strong.

They do have a building for delivery but requires driving people around the the NE and have to go through security. Easier for them to deliver out front for now. I am sure they will improve this going forward as more deliveries take place

Do they have a service/sales location close but outside of the plant secure area?

My local Rivian Service area has a large shop but very small office and no inside demo space. When I did my test drive I would have liked to have a vehicle inside that I could play with the interface before I got behind the wheel. The pictures of some of their other service/sales areas look much more interactive.
