Factory PPF Deliveries on R1S?

Hey, All. I searched the forum, but couldn't find any relatable threads. I'm wondering if the Factory XPEL optioned orders (especially for the R1S) are actually being delivered? I opted to add the $1500 (front application) option to my build, and I wonder if there is any chance it may further "hold up" my delivery, or if I might otherwise be passed up for someone who did not add that option. Maybe I missed something, but it seems like there hasn't been much PPF news lately. And yes, I fully realize that order date and proximity to a service center are the biggest factors. (for the record, I'm less than 10 miles to the Olathe, KS SC)

I'm literally debating this exact same thing after getting the delivery window update email. I don't want to delay my R1S just because I add XPEL now since I can add it later. ?

Aww man...this was not the answer I was hoping for! Can anyone confirm that R1S's have been delivered with factory front PPF? If it is relatively prevalent, I will feel a lot better. If they haven't started shipping factory PPF yet, then its DELETE, DELETE, DELETE.

It will definitely delay delivery, by days, just because the PPF applied after being produced at the factory. But the PPF is not a factor of production / batching…unlike an exterior paint color, interior color or wheel choice.

That is a good point, but do we know that it is even happening? Again, I haven't seen people posting and or bragging about having the front PPF application from the factory.

I was told by the XPEL rep on this forum that they had their own people working at a facility just outside the factory in Normal and were starting installs in October of last year. I think I saw one post here with detailed pictures of the front ppf from the factory on a delivered R1T but of course I can't find that thread now.

I am at my 8 steps with factory front PPF. I will keep everyone updated as the delivery process continues.

I know this is regarding R1S, but I certainly feel having PPF on my R1T config has delayed me. I added it to my config before the October window refresh and saw a bunch of people get better windows than me with similar configs minus PPF, and same location, and later pre-order dates. My config was locked by my guide almost 2.5 months ago with nothing since. In hindsight, I wouldn't have configured PPF. My guess their capacity to install PPF is less than demand, so it's basically a bottle neck. At this point, I might as well just let it ride...

I’ve seen my exact R1S config in the R1 Shop, the only difference is I ordered PPF. I wonder how far the backlog and delay is for those of us with PPF in the orders.

I'd grab the one in the shop and then try to get an EXPEL authorized shop to honor that deal that was talked about last year.

Having done the factory PPF option on my T, I would not do it again in the future. I talked to someone familiar with the process, and they use pre-cut stencils, don't wrap all edges, don't give you the normal warranty, and generally run it like a factory line, so the attention to detail is not there. Also, the PPF on the truck tunnel doors is garbage, mine started collecting dirt and peeling after just one week of use. They could have easily wrapped those edges, but they didn't.

When we were at the factory, they said they were "backed up" on PPF installs. I think the only delay is the extra time to install the PPF, but I highly doubt a VIN assignment would be pushed to someone who does not have PPF. Just my 2 cents.
